Outline of History, Specifications and Custom Features
The current owner is the original owner of the Checkered Demon. He initially met with the designer of the 26' Intrepid (Jim Wynne) and the owner of Intrepid (John Meshal) in the Spring of 1986 to plan the custom features of the center console Intrepid. The Intrepid was completed in July 1986, although it looks like she is "brand new," including the gelcoat condition.
The Intrepid has always been kept either indoors in a covered dry-storage facility or outside on a dual-axle Continental trailer under a full cover over the boat down to the chine. The sale of the trailer is included with the sale of the subject Intrepid 26.
There has never been bottom paint applied to the boat as she has always been in the water for short periods of time.
Originally outfitted with a 220 HP Yamaha that never failed.
The total time on the boat is 650 +/-hours.
The boat is in absolute "Bristol" or pristine condition. Owner contends there is no other Intrepid 26 that is equals the unique condition, custom features, equipment and performance as this boat.
Installed new Yamaha 300 HP 2-stroke engine in 2009. Total engine hours are approximately 216. Engine has never failed or had any problems, and serviced annually with new impellers, filters (Racor w water separator), etc.
New aluminum, custom engine bracket was installed at the time of repower that is much lighter than original stainless bracket. The owner has paid careful attention to keeping the boat light in order to increase overall seaworthiness and performance.
New engine generates a top speed of approximately 50 MPH.
