Hull No.1 of 2 Doug Peterson designed Solaris One 48 Club Racers. Launched as KAPOC V and winner of the Italian IOR championships. Comprehensively upgraded and refitted in recent seasons.
FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:
Launched in 1986 as KAPOC V, QUASAR was a racer winner right out of the box, taking the prestigious Italian IOR title in her first year. Constructed to extremely high standards with evergreen lines from the late Doug Peterson, QUASAR is timeless in her appearance and feels like a yacht many years newer.
With only three owners since new, she was extensively refitted and remodelled at the build yard in 1994 and then again after her sale to the most recent owner in 2011. Her highlights include:-
- Awgrip repaint – 2015
- New antiskid deck paint – 2015
- Three spreaders mast from Velscaff – 2017
- Rod Standing rigging - 2017
- New Reckman jib furling - 2017
- Lead bulb with increased draft
- Webasto water-based heater
- RINA until 2012
MANUFACTURER OVERVIEW:
Il Cantiere Serigi was founded in 1974 in Aquileia, along the course of the Natissa river, initially in a small factory. The first works consist exclusively of works of construction of hulls designed and printed at other shipyards, such as BENELLO, but which are immediately distinguished by the precision of the workings and the degree of finishing of the artifacts. Shortly thereafter, in 1977, thanks to the spirit of enterprise, the skills and vitality of the men engaged in the company, the first fiberglass boats were launched, built entirely by the shipyard, which thus assumes its own image on the market, already imposing the "SOLARIS" line. The SOLARIS 37 and SOLARIS 47 are therefore born.
Since its founding, Solaris has always had a specialized department for the repair and refit of custom and mass production yachts from boatyards all over world. Experience and tests at sea have demonstrated that most sailing yachts, suffer from the effects of the wind and the sea, resulting in movement and deformation.
OWNER’S COMMENTS:
“In 2011 Quasar is mine, I remember using twenty minutes to choose that it was mine. Today I would use less than ten. Wonderful boat (even if mine is a judgment of part ...), of an incredible solidity, it is satisfying not to feel it ever flopping, close-hauled, 7.5 knots, 10 knots of real, 150 square meters of sail and 7t of bulb that go down to 2.95. Yet not even a creak”.
