With her rakish profile and roomy three-stateroom interior, the Kong & Halvorsen/Island Gypsy is a good looking and practical flybridge sedan with just a hint of her trawler heritage. Notably, only a few sedan-style boats in this size range have three staterooms. "Sojourner's" current Owner is a knowledgeable and experienced boater.

Construction
Kong & Halvorsen was founded in 1975 by Joseph Kong and Lars Halvorsen. Kong had been the Production Manager at Grand Banks, and Halvorsen was a well-know Australian designer and builer of commercial and pleasure craft. Until 1980, most Kong & Halvorsen boats were built in Hong Kong. The decision was then made to shift some of its production to new facilities in the nearby
Shekou Industrial Zone near Canton in Mainland China. (Note that there are now three yards in Mainland China.)The Kong & Halvorsen nameplate was dropped in 1992 when the company name was changed to Halvorsen Marine. Their Island Gypsy series of traditional trawlers and motor crusiers is well regarded in the yachting industry thanks to their solid construction and affordable prices.
