Ooo-Baby is a fine example of the traditional, sturdy, and abundantly teaked Taiwan-built trawlers from the 1980s that have appealed to liveaboards and cruisers for years.

Arthur DeFever spent his early years designing commercial tuna clippers for the San Diego fleet. These vessels proved highly reliable and seaworthy. They stayed away from port for weeks at a time, traveling long distances to Central and South America before returning safely with their catch.

In the early 1960s, Arthur joined the Offshore Cruising Society. At the time, long range cruising in private yachts was virtually always done in sailboats. The Society retained Arthur to design a series of seaworthy cruising powerboats in the 38 to 54 foot length that would have sufficient range to make the long runs up and down the Pacific coast into Mexico or to Alaska. These are deep draft, full-displacement, diesel-powered vessels that are capable of prolonged passages in comfort and safety.

With a full keel and fast responding Robertson autopilot the (OB) is quite comfortable in a seaway.  Ooo-Baby draws only 4' and with the full keel she is happy in the inland waterway, sounds, rivers and creeks.  Her full keel protects the efficient four bladed propellers and large rudders.  The large propellers allow for easy docking without the need for a bow-thruster or large crew.

This is a vessel that provides comfort at the dock for a long holiday, weekend get-away, or economical travelling, offering comfortable 7-8 knot cruising and maneuverability in close quarters.

If you are looking for a well-built cruising trawler with plenty of storage that can safely take you anywhere, then this boat is definitely a must see!
