Manufacturer Provided Description
The Bertram 38III Convertible combines posh accommodations, dramatic lines and the kind of classic quality that says it's a Bertram. Inspired design and meticulous engineering have made her 38-foot, 4-inch length and 13-foot, 3-inch beam seem much larger. An enormous cockpit provides all the open space anyone needs to cruise, fish, or simply play. And with a spacious salon and a galley that runs the entire starboard side, she is perfect for intimate dinner parties at sea. There's a 12 - 110 volt refrigerator and a three-burner range with an oven, along with what seems like miles of drawer and locker space. She sleeps six, with a convertible lounge. There are two completely private staterooms: one with upper and lower berths, a hanging closet and drawer stowage; the other with V-berths and hanging closet stowage. Other features emphasize the flybridge, with more than ample seating that includes a pedestal helm and a larger-than-life companion seat - all with great visibility.
Engines
Ample, dependable power is provided by tried-and-true 355hp Caterpillar 3208 diesels with ~2050hrs. (port) and ~2200hrs. (starboard). The original hourmeters were replaced with new ones in 2016 when the current owner purchased the boat, so the current readings of ~65hrs each were added to the original numbers. Besides complete regular maintenance, the Intercoolers and Exhausts were serviced in 2019. An 8kw Onan genset provides plenty of juice to power the AC and accessories during those offshore trips. Owner states the boat will cruise at ~18kts and WOT ~24kts.
Additional Information
In addition to the robust engine maintenance, 2004 saw the addition of a new hot water heater and anchor windlass. A Furuno radar, Garmin FF/GPS, and ICOM VHF provide the captain with everything they need to run safely and smoothly. The ample fishing cockpit includes a bait/prep station with freshwater sink and storage, plus plenty of real estate to accommodate the anglers and guests. The salon is no slouch, either. The galley-up layout offers plenty of counter space and storage, while the sofa and dinette with freestanding chairs provide comfort for the crew. A comfortable master stateroom and secondary bunkroom with top and bottom berths sleep four (4), and a full standup head with shower provides a convenient place to freshen up after a fun day at sea. A/C unit operates, but owner states it could use a coolant charge for peak capability.
