"SERENITY” was originally built by Shin Fa Industries Yachts in Taiwan to a design developed by Harwood Ives. Its hull is hand laminated fiberglass using polyester resin with chopped strand mat and woven roving. The thick laminate schedule general consists of up to 24 layers of 24 oz. woven roving and 1.5 oz. mat. The deck and cabin top are cored. The main deck has a teak planked overlay with black rubber seams. The cabin top has teak planking fit into molded recesses at various areas. The hull to deck joint is a typical inward flanged and has been internally fiberglassed. Internal plywood bulkheads are fiberglass tabbed to the hull and deck. The majority of the bulkheads and partitions are covered over with teak planking. There is a cast lead ballast fitted in the keel cavity and fiberglassed over the top.
