Baby Blue, Sail No. 249 in the Friendship Sloop Society, was built in 1983 by the Jarvis Newman Company of Southwest Harbor, Maine. Her hull is hand-laid fiberglass, and she has a one-piece molded fiberglass deck assembly with teak overlays. Baby Blue is the last Newman Pemaquid built to date. She has been sailing in fresh water on Lake Champlain for 20+ years, and her owners have upgraded and maintained her well--new mast, sails, engine shaft, etc. She sports rollerfurled head sails for ease of raising and furling. Her gaff rig and bowsprit, varnished spars, and graceful sheer make her a classic beauty as well as a proven seaworthy and stable sloop. If you are looking for a fun family boat for daysailing and overnighting, along with contributing to the lovely views at a very reasonable cost, we recommend Baby Blue.
