The Eagle "Tramp" Trimaran by Haines Hunter is one of the most unique sailboats out there. Not a whole lot of them available and given that she is an early Ian Farrier folding trimaran. It is incredible that you can buy one of these boats complete with trailer and outboard for the 8K range given that is what a new Laser on a trailer delivered would cost approximately.
With the amas folded she makes a legally trailered boat but yet with the boat expanded she renders a beam of 14.75' - - that is right, almost 15' wide. The stability is staggering to keep many a first mate in comfort with out the healing that is associated with most of sailing vessels.
And with that stability the rig can apply more energy to the system and thus yield a VERY FAST sailboat.
Only drawing 4' 0" with the board down, she is an excellent "gunk holer" as she floats in a mere 4 to 5" of water with out much gear in the boat.
The cockpit is delightful for a day's sail and yet she can lend herself to overnighting - - better than a tent with the appropriate gear.
As of this writing she needs replacement standing rigging and this will be accomplished in the up coming weeks (and the price includes this improvement), but otherwise the galvanized trailer is very serviceable and road worthy and she comes with a good 4 hp outboard, sails and everything needed to give you years of enjoyment.
Located at our yard in Memphis, Tn. at the corner of I 240 and US 78 she is easy to get to and drive back home with.
First come, first served. A tremendous amount of sailboat for the dollars and priceless fun for a long time. Time to start making some of those memories !
