The New York 40 (NY 40) was commissioned by the New York Yacht Club as a one-design performance racer/cruiser class. Designed by Doug Peterson, reportedly 21 were built between 1977 and 1979. They are still competitive, and one of the photos accompanying this listing shows two competing side-by-side in this year's FIGAWI race. The NY 40 is a powerful sailer upwind but enjoys excellent light air performance. The interior plan is comfortable, sleeping eight, if necessary but very comfortable for two couples in two private cabins.
BLIXTAR (Ex "JUBILATION") has enjoyed excellent ownership over the years and has been thoughtfully upgraded. Her care is evident, and she shows beautifully, She is currently hauled for winter storage in Hull, MA and is covered with shrinkwrap with a door installed. She may be easily seen.
