One of the best sailboats built. Totally overbuilt and loaded with features. Solid fiberglass bulls - not cored hulls. Fully encapsulated keels. etc. The pilothouse version is one of only 22 built and very desirable and sought after version, as is this ketch version vs a Sloop version.
The CSY hull is up to 1.5" of solid fiberglass reinforced plastic resin with 14 dual layers (one sheet of fiberglass mat and one sheet of fiberglass weave = one layer). The avoidance of wood cores extends to the deck, which is also solid fiberglass. The only wood used in the construction of these boats are heavy laminated structural stringers, bulkheads and interior furniture.
Caribbean Sailing Yachts (CSY) is a company which built heavy-displacement recreational sailboats built during the 1970s and 1980s in Tampa, Florida. CSY was one of the first companies to recognize the impending growth of the Caribbean charter industry and although the company went out of business in the early 1980s, the well-founded boats have continued to sail the world's oceans for the past four decades. The CSY boats were sold directly from the factory, without any dealerships or middle-men. Two books were published showing all stages of construction. These books, entitled CSY Guide to Buying a Yacht, were used as the primary means of promotion. One 168-page soft-cover book was published in 1977. A shorter 138-page version was republished in 1979.
Beautiful condition. All exterior teak woodwork has been recently varnished.
Teak and holly sole throughout.
Nice seating/dining area and full helm station in pilothouse.
U-Shaped Galley and V-Berth forward.
Master Stateroom is easily accessed from Salon (Pilothouse) or from the Cockpit.
Full enclosure, Bimini, Sail Covers, Winch Covers, all in excellent condition.
All Seacocks replaced 2 years ago.
Newer Cummins 4B (65HP) Engine (Re-powered). The original engine was a Perkins 4.154.
Kohler 5KW generator
This vessel is Hull #9 out of a total of 22 CSY Pilothouse yachts.
For comparison – CSY built approximately 400 of the “Walk Over” and only 41 of the “Walk Through” designs.
Owned by a knowledgeable and experienced sailor for the past 25 years (since 1995). Always kept in Maryland (and hauled-out every year for winter storage). Lightly sailed on Chesapeake Bay. Never abused. Just brought down south to Florida in December 2019.
This is NOT a boat that has been left out in the sun. Paint, Brightwork, and Canvas are beautiful. Sails are crisp.
This is the "shoal draft" version version which makes the boat ideal for use around Florida and the Bahamas.

The CSY 44 is a ruggedly built mid-cockpit deck saloon blue water cruiser. The hefty lay-up schedule and easy sailing characteristics make her appealing to cruising traditionalists.
The bulletproof rub rail and a keel and ballast arrangement designed to handle a grounding piqued the interest of many cruisers.
