The Formosa Clipper was made in Taiwan and is noted for her great lines and style. Below she is full of teak, bronze and brass giving her a warm feel. The layout is simple with the galley and dinette just in the companionway. The salon is next with settees on both sides and a nice entertainment cabinet mid-ship. Then the head is to port and main owners cabin to starboard. Forward is a large Vee berth storage area.
So for accommodations, there is the owners berth that opens up to sleep 2, the Vee can sleep 2, the salon settees can sleep 2 and the dinette converts to a double allowing for 8 total.
The single head is oversized with a separate walkin shower.
A new A/C is installed to keep the interior at a comfortable temperature. It is still under warranty.
The galley is small and simple but the owner has added plenty of refrigeration. There is a small cold plate fridge in the galley counter, a huge cold plate freezer under the helm seat, and a third apartment size fridge in the dinette! All can run on 110V from the shore power, inverter, or genset.
A Force 10 3 burner propane stove/oven and a Oster microwave make up the utilities.
The engine was replaced and upgraded to a Yanmar 4JH 54 hp in about 2008. Hours are unknown. Access is under the cockpit floor.
The prop is a large fixed 3 blade and protected by the full keel and skeg hung rudder.
The electrical system has been maintained and upgraded over the years. A new electrical panel at the companionway has all breakers and gauges for the systems. A brand new Mase 7.5 KW generator was recently installed and currently shows only 230 hours. It is below the cockpit flooring in a secure sound shield cabinet.
Also a new Xantrex inverter/charger compliments the electrical system and is capable of running the refrigeration away from the dock in concert with the new genset.
The electronics aboard are simple but functional. A Raymarine 4000 autopilot and a Garmin chartplotter is at the helm. A Horizon depth display is in the cockpit and a Horizon Eclipse VHF is at the dinette.
A large flat screed TV is in the salon with cable access at the dock, a local TV antenna on the mast for local area access and satellite antenna for cruising access.
Sails and Rigging
The Clipper rig is a classic ketch with a large furling 130% genoa, a huge battened mainsail, and a small mizzen. The genoa is about 3 years old. The main is about 7 years old with a brand new lazy bag sail cover, and the mizzen is the original!. They are controlled by Barient primaries and Lewmar main sheet winch in the cockpit and small halyard winches on the masts.
The masts were replaced with custom aluminum masts about 15 years ago and are both keel stepped. The are Awlgripped in white.
Deck and cockpit
The owner has removed the teak decks and replaced with fiberglass and Awl Grip. on The teak outside has also been painted except for the toe rails that are maintained in a natural state. On the foredeck is a large dock box for line and fender storage and extra 15 gallon containers for water and fuel.
There is no windlass but a large Fortress (light weight aluminum) with chain and rope rode is available and secured on a large bollard on the fore deck.
The bowsprit was also replaced with an aluminum strut and is maintenance free!
A nice bimini and shade screen cover the helm and most of the cockpit. The canvas is Sunbrella and replaced recently.
A set of davits are on the transom and are original.
Even if shown in the photos, the dinghy and outboard motor on board are excluded from the listing and sale.
Aslo excluded are personal use and clothing items, the salon humidifier, the portable ice maker, the removable portable fridge, the inverter, and the Magma grill.
