A great live aboard cruiser with a center cockpit, companion access to forward stateroom and aft salon, as well as, walkthroughs on both sides. This is a very roomy, spacious and comfortable vessel. Rigged for easy handling, with furling genoa and strongly powered with an 80 horse fresh water-cooled Lehman. The hull form carries a long keel, 9000lbs lead ballast and skeg mounted rudder to provide maximum stability, good tracking and maneuverability. While drawing less then 5', upwind performance is exceptional. The boat's design and balanced helm make it not only a joy to sail, but very easy to handle by a couple."

BRIGHT STAR is a 1976 Tartan T.O.C.K. which stands for Tartan Offshore Cruising Ketch, designed by Sparkman and Stephens, Tartan built 30 of these blue water cruisers from 1976 to 1977.
The T.O.C.K. has several unique features which distinguish her among the Tartan line. Perhaps the most apparent among these is her mid-ship cockpit and high bulwarks, but it is below that the designer's intent fully unfolds. Purpose designed as a live-aboard for couples, her layout includes a "great cabin" aft measuring a full 22 feet long by 13 feet wide spanning half the yacht's length, a fully outfitted galley with over 10 feet of counter space, a head with separate walk-in shower, a pull out large berth stateroom forward with head and bunk beds in the forepeak.
