Galatea's design was decades ahead of her time for a capable world cruising yacht.
Her aft cockpit with low opening to the sea for easy boarding and swimming access mirrors contemporary designs. This aft cockpit allows access to the rest of the vessel, or direct access to the aft cabin via a private companionway.
Her deep, secure center cockpit allows for excellent visibility, and ample space for all crew.
Continuing forward on deck her simple, masthead rig with removable inner forestay is rigged with a full set of Doyle sails in very good condition.
Mainsail, Genoa, and Staysail were all new in 2014.
Mainsail features lazy jacks, while Genoa is controlled by a Harken furler.
At the bow is a Lofrans electric windlass pulling 200' of 1/4" chain holding a 60lb CQR anchor.
Secondary Danforth anchor and additional rode are stored in the spacious locker aft of the windlass.
Opening the Port cockpit locker reveals a "walk-in" engine room!
down a ladder from the cockpit there is excellent access to all sides of the main engine.
an 8kw Westerbeke Diesel genset is mounted in this locker with excellent access to all sides of both engine and genset.
Rows of shelves and a work bench finish off this space, unusual on a boat of this length, but very practical for long range cruising.
Going below from the cockpit to the main salon, there is a large galley to port.
Galley features a 4 burner propane stove with broiler and oven.
Deep double sink
Top loading refrigerator with cold plate (AC powered) - runs off of Genset once per day, does not use ships batteries!
Separate front loading DC refrigerator
To port and forward of the galley is the large dinette that comfortably seats six, and folds down to a double berth.
Opposite the dinette is a large settee.
Forward is a cabin featuring double bed, ample drawers and hanging storage, and a private head with shower.
Moving aft from the salon, there is a large navigation station with seat outboard to starboard of the companionway.
Moving further aft is stowage in the hallway between the salon and aft cabin.
Aft cabin is accessed via this hallway, and features a double bed, private head, and shower.
Aft cabin also has a private companionway hatch that exits directly to the aft cockpit/swim area.
