The sailing yacht UNIQUE was built in 1971 according to the plans of the Canadian yacht designer Cuthbertson & Cassian as a fast regatta yacht as a One Off at the Bremer shipyard de Dood. After completing regatta in the North Sea, Baltic Sea and Mediterranean Sea, the yacht changed hands in 1983 and was mainly used as a cruising yacht for 13 years. In 1996, the current owner acquired the yacht and still uses the yacht as a fast and safe cruising yacht with the smallest crew. The hull is designed as a "summer field shell" and consists of 11 layers of vacuum-pressed mahogany. In the past 13 years UNIQUE has been continuously cared for by a well known German boat yard whoch is famous for wooden boats and converted from a regatta yacht into a fast cruising yacht with very good and safe sailing characteristics. This yard has also refitted the interior to the highest standard.
