She is registered under Croatian flag, VAT paid.

The yacht was built in 1963 for the Captain Denholm who was the first to write pilot books of the Mediterranean and Aegean in the late 60s and 70s. (A selection of his books is on board). She was built of selected Burma teak as a yawl with inner forestay. Her hull shape was the same as the Admiral Cup yachts built in mahogany of that time by Camper & Nicholsons: NORYMA and QUAILLO III. She therefore sails very well. Her long keel makes for a very steady sail, even in rough waters.

She was hauled out in the summer of 2019, the hull was fully exposed, stripped and repainted with anti-fouling. (Photos available).

All sea cocks were checked and replaced as necessary. A full Condition Survey was completed in 2020 by a registered and reputable marine assessor and is available on request.

She is varnished outside with Coelan, which is ideal for the conditions (because it doesn’t crack in the sunlight).

The original Perkins (50 hp) engine is still in good working order.

She is cleared out below decks—and some utilities, such as the head and depth sounder are on board but will need to be reconnected. She has a full complement of sails, including spinnaker, but all sails are worn (and will need to be replaced at some stage).

HERALD has had five owners; the present owner since 2008. She is moored and registered (as DB 3472 until 2024) in Dubrovnik, where the cruising ground is very good. She has a secure and inexpensive berth close to ACI Marina. 

For someone who would like to enjoy the limitless cruising available along the Dalmatian Coast, including its many islands, HERALD and all necessary infrastructure is in place.
