Pearson

Pearson Yachts was a Rhode Island-based builder of sailboats that built some of their first fiberglass boats in the 1960s. The company changed hands a few times but for a while, chief designer Bill Shaw produced classic cruising and racing profiles (22 to 53 feet) many of which are still sailing today. In its heyday, the company built almost a boat a day; unfortunately the company folded in 1991. But good boats don’t just disappear; parts of the original company morphed into what is today known as Pearson Marine Group , which still builds and sells True North motorboats, North Rip sportfishing boats, and premium Alerion daysailers that are known for their classic lines and a fast turn of speed.
