Benetti Launches the Crystal 140 Yacht and Much, Much More

Italian yacht builder Benetti launches a number of new offerings.

Benetti Crystal 140 Equus, one of six Crystal 140s that Benetti Yachts has sold since introducing the model in 2011, has just launched—and the shipyard says it will have Hull Number seven ready for an owner by December 2016.

The launch of Equus is just one of several announcements in recent weeks from the Benetti yard.

“Contemporary interiors recreating her original design by François Zuretti were created by the Benetti in-house design team in collaboration with the owner’s designer, Polly Sturgess’s Pod Interior Style studio, who personally created the decorative detailing,” according to Benetti. “It recalls a colonial atmosphere with an African mood, in reference to the family’s passion for the African continent and polo, one of the world’s most glamorous sports, also known as ‘the sport of the Kings.’’

Benetti also recently revealed details of its titillating Fisker 50 concept, a 164-foot design by Henrik Fisker, who is best known for luxury automobiles including the BMW Z8 and Aston Martin DB9. Fisker is the co-founder of the American luxury sports car company VLF Automotive, as well as the founder and CEO of HF Design, which worked with Galpin Auto Sports to create the 2015 Mustang Rocket.

Black carbon fiber will accentuate graphics on the Fisker 50 yacht, and extended carbon-fiber shark fins will give her an aerodynamic appearance. Integrated solar panels will help provide power (Benetti says a hybrid propulsion system is optional). The bow view of the Fisker 50 will include three stainless steel bars that Benetti says give “the yacht its own identity by being radical, imposing and powerful.”

Onboard, the Fisker 50 will have a beach club, spa, hot tub, gymnasium, giant-screeen theater, room for a 21-foot tender, six staterooms for 12 guests (including a main-deck master with a foldout terrace, fireplace and “starlight ceiling”) and cabins for 11 crew.

Benetti also recently launched the 147-foot yacht Domani (the fourth Benetti yacht for the same client) and sold a 229-foot custom yacht (the seventh contract the shipyard has signed since February 2015 for yachts that are 164 feet and larger).

Domani, the latest custom yacht built by Benetti, also recently splashed.

Which is the most exciting news right now at Benetti? It’s difficult to choose, but one thing is for certain: Superyacht sales are alive and well in Italy.
