At Artisan Boatworks our team of custom wooden boatbuilders craft replicas of classic daysailers, mahogany runabouts, electric launches, downeast picnic boats, peapods, and rowboats – just to name a few. We employ traditional plank-on-frame construction, cold-molded epoxy, and/or cutting-edge sheathed strip composite. We build new replicas of classic wooden yachts designed by Herreshoff, William Fife, Starling Burgess, B. B. Crowninshield, John Alden, Sparkman & Stephens, Joel White, and their contemporaries. We can make modifications to those designs, or design new cutting-edge Spirit of Tradition yachts to match individual style and practical requirements.

Through our brokerage service we serve both buyers and sellers, utilizing our many contacts and years of experience to bring good boats and good people together. We look forward to speaking with you, listening carefully and collaborating effectively to bring your yachting dreams to fruition. Call today!

2013 US$ 225,000

According to Artisan Boatworks’s Alec Brainerd, only 5 Buzzards Bay 18s were built by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company during the winter of 1903/1904 for the Beverly Yacht Club (then located in Monument Beach, Massachusetts), and were known as the Beverly K Class. Essentially a larger version of the 15’ waterline E class (24′ 6″ overall).

BESHERTE is the second of two full-keel Buzzards Bay 18 replicas meticulously built by by Artisan Boatworks, and was launched in 2013.  She features edge-glued cedar planking over steam-bent oak frames with a laminated mahogany backbone. She’s auxiliary powered by a Beta 14-hp inboard diesel, which is completely hidden from view within the cabin.

GMT Composites of Rhode Island designed and built the carbon-fiber mast, which is faux painted to simulate Sitka spruce, of which the booms and gaff are constructed. The carbon mast allows BESHERTE to be sailed without running backstays. This feature, in combination with a full-length jib club, makes the entire rig easy to singlehand.

Maintained by her builders at Artisan Boatworks since new, BESHERTE remains in perfect condition.  2017/18 seasonal paint, varnish, and storage are included, as is spring delivery, launching, and rigging anywhere in the Northeast.
