Checklist for Selling your Boat
--all personal items are cleaned off the boat…that allows the potential customer to imagine THEIR things on the boat. And whatever they SEE on the boat, they perceive as being SOLD with the boat.
--the boat is clean and presentable...just like a house, a clean one will sell faster. Think about when you bought the boat…appearance is everything in terms of getting you the most money for your boat. If you would like a cleaning service on a regular basis, we can help you arrange that. --if you keep your boat at a marina, keep the area around your slip clean and presentable. We know docks can sometimes be messy…but if the area around your boat is clean, potential customers perceive you as someone who cares about their boat. --take all food items out of the refrigerator and freezer --let us know if anything on the boat is not working that you are aware of...disclosing it is far better than finding it out unexpectedly. If you would like us to arrange any repair or maintenance work on your behalf, we offer service contracts. --let us know if there is a time you would not want us to show the boat i.e. trips you plan to take, any repair work time frames that are scheduled, etc. --let us know where you keep the key for the cabin...if we need to get it from you only when showing the boat, that’s okay...or we can have a key made --please contact your marina and let them know we are helping you sell your boat and would be authorized to enter the dock on your behalf. If they need a copy of our insurance, we are happy to provide that. If your dock requires a code, special card or key to open the dock gate, we will need that information to show the boat. --let us know how to leave your boat…what control panel switches you would like to stay on…or off. Our goal is to leave your boat to your satisfaction. When we board with potential customers, we usually turn on lights. Sea trial of your boat requires a deposit and a signed purchase agreement from the interested purchaser...we don’t just give boat rides. --keeping you informed of market conditions specific to your boat is part of the service we offer. If at any time you have questions regarding the activity or selling information of your boat, please contact us…our only goal at YachtSouth is to bring buyers and sellers together. We may not call you every time an inquiry is made on your boat if it does not become a serious buyer; however, we do keep records on all inquiries and showings.
