Jim DesRoches, President-
Jim has been a boater all of his life; both power and sail. He is a member of the Hampton Yacht Club and a past Commodore of the Broad Bay Sailing Association
Jim started YachtSmart in 1998, and actively manages the day to day operations of the company. He is a USCG Licensed Master for both power and sailing vessels.

Jessica DesRoches
Jessica loves being on the water on any type boat. She has experience with power and sailing yachts. Jess and Jim own a 38 foot cruising sailboat. Jessie got married to Jim on the beach in Hawaii in October of 2007.

Bruce Ayers
Bruce is a lifelong boater with a depth and diversity of experience who enjoys sharing
his knowledge and interest with others. His focus is primarily on trawlers, downeasters
and other “character” boats of quality.

Lola Howard has been with YachtSmart since the beginning of the company. Lola is a member of the Norfolk Naval Sailing Association, and is very experienced in the sale of motor and sailing yachts.

David Nichol, Broker-
David owned Harbour Yachts in Norfolk for several years. In 2000, David sold Harbour Yachts to YachtSmart and is enjoying semi-retirement. David is our resident sail racer, and is an expert on racing boats. David owns a Cal 33 that he races.
Chip Gygi, Broker
Chip is a licensed Charter boat captain, and experienced sport fisherman. He has grown up around boats right here in Norfolk, and is knowledgable about boat repair and construction. Chip has a 47 foot Custom Sport fisherman. Chip's direct line is (757) 362-2562
Ed "Sandy" Sanderson
Sandy heads up our Oriental/Beaufort/Morehead City, NC office. He is retired Navy and grew up around boats and has owned many, including sail & power. He has an extensive background in metal and composite structures (aircraft & boats), and systems including electric, hydraulic, and mechanical. Sandy & his wife currently own a 38' cruising sailboat they keep on Clubfoot Creek just off the Neuse River.

Jim Elliott is located in our Elizabeth City NC office.He is an experienced broker as well as a seasoned sailor. He has been in the yacht brokerage business on the Albemarle sound area of North Carolina for several years.
