Greg Norwine, President, Windworks Yacht Sales, Inc., Employed since 1992
Greg Norwine graduated from the UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN with a degree in Finance and Real Estate in 1980. He began a career in commercial real estate and 3rd party commercial high rise office real estate management for 12 years in Houston Texas and Newport Beach, California.
Greg started sailing in college on 420’s and later on his own Santana 27 on Galveston Bay, Texas. Later, he moved up to a Cal 29 of which he owned and sailed these two boats for seven years. Greg's racing experience consists of PHRP on Cal 29 for several years, and well as crewing on other race boats for 6 years. Greg has sailed the Gulf Coast, as well as several blue water passages in the Gulf of Mexico and on the West Coast. Greg began sailing with local sailing clubs after selling his last boat in 1987. Once involved with a sailing club (and learning about the advantages of lowering the cost of sailing), Greg ventured out in the charter sailing world with the MOORINGS in various caribbean locations.
Further recognizing the value, convienince and affordability of the sailing club concept, Greg began working towards involvement in such an organization. He joined various clubs on the Gulf and West Coast. In addition, he drove the coast from San Diego to Seattle to see what was going on in the sailing world at the time. With Seattle as the ultimate destination for sailing, he and his fiance’(now wife), Amanda, decided to settle here and work on establishing a sailing club. They purchased an existing organization called, "Windworks," in June of 1992. Greg re-engineered Windworks adding the "club" and "charter" concepts, pioneering the club concept to the Northwest. His motto has always been to "keep sailing accessable, convenient, and affordable."
Greg enjoys spending time sailing with his wife and two boys ages 6 and 10. They typically sail in the off season for 4 or 5 days at a time. Their favorite local overnight sailing spots include: Pirate Island (Blake Island), Arrabellas landing at Gig Harbor, Poulsbo (for the bakery), and downtown at pier 66 (for the penny arcade and Old Spagetti Factory).
