A Florida resident who was a neighbor when I was growing up in Michigan suggested I look into working with VYB when I was ready to sell. He has not worked with you but was well aware of and complimentary to your operation. I looked over your website and was further impressed. Your ads in PassageMaker looked very nice. A telephone conversation cemented the deal. I wanted the boat kept near the middle of the east coast in or near a boating center. Fresh water was a plus and a covered slip most attractive; sun is hard on varnish, canvas, and fiberglass. You are knowledgable about your business. I found you to be straight foward to deal with. Even though I left before the boat was detailed, the pictures show that you and the crew know what you are doing when it comes to "presentation" of a product for sale. Having a good yard to back you up in case any work needs to be done is a real plus. All in all I can say that I had an excellent experience with VYB in what appears to be a very soft market. If we ever look for another large boat I would not hesitate to work with VYB.

I want to give Bob Starr a pat on the back for handling the recent sale of my Monk 36. I’ve known Bob for several years, but this was my first time dealing with him as a broker. There are three things that very much impressed me: the time and effort he put in, his extensive knowledge of the market, and his customer-friendly style. Initially, the boat was located near our home, which is about 60 miles from Bob’s office in Chesapeake. He did not mind at all jumping in his car and showing the boat here, on several occasions. He also gave it star billing in all the publications and mailings, and on the Web site. In a very difficult market, we finally decided we would do better if we kept it at Atlantic Yacht Basin, a couple of steps from Bob’s office. He offered a generous three-month slip rent reimbursement, which made that a bit less expensive. He then detailed the boat, staged it, and presented it to potential customers many times. When we did get a serious offer, Bob guided me and provided sound advice that resulted in a successful sale. Bob is a true professional who will give it his very best shot, and the chances are, it will be very pleasant and successful experience for the owner.

Recently it has been my pleasure to have listed my boat with Virginia Yacht Brokers in Chesapeake Va. The process started earlier last summer when a conversation lead them to drive to my boat's location in southern Maryland to discuss the possibility of selling my boat. This in itself was very different in that they would take the time and effort to drive round trip was to me impressive. After viewing the boat and having some discussion about how the process would work, it was decided that I would wait until Fall and then take the boat south. October found me at Virginia Yacht Brokers. I was greeted by everyone and the boat was then handed over to them. Over the next week the boat was made shipshape and detailed by their very competent detailer, and a set pictures were taken and text written. The ad was then placed in YachtWorld. PEARL sold that first week. The promise I received was the boat would be stored under cover cleaned and cared for and an effort would be made to sell her. All was delivered. The distress of not having a boat for the first time in thirty years has been made a bit easier by the handling I received from the folks at VYB. I can only give the highest recommendation to Virginia Yacht Brokers.

Very good experience with Virginia Yacht Brokers. The recommendations regarding surveyor, engine tech and electronics tech were very important to me. It is possible to abuse the trust a potential buyer may place in a broker when it comes to such recommendations. In my case, however, I was present to meet the tech and observe their conduct while they worked and would have walked if I suspected a glossing over of any issues. I am currently using them to fix the things they found, all of which I confirmed when the inspections were done. Willingness to communicate by e-mail was also important to me. I am very busy and it is a great way to eliminate phone tag and document who is doing what and when. I appreciate the timely responses to my numerous communications. Good luck!
