This is Perhaps the Finest 47 Commander Anywhere. Mahagra is a Rare Short Hardtop Model, and No Expense has been Spared in her Care & Maintenance.
I am the second owner of the boat. She had been at our marina since 1970. She is powered by twin 427 Ford’s and has 1100 hours. Both engines are in excellent condition and have been very well cared for since new. I installed electronic ignition a few years ago and that was a nice improvement. Otherwise, I change the oil regularly as well as transmission fluid, impellors, fuel filters, etc… The generator is a 6.5kw Kohler and has also received similar maintenance. The entire engine compartment and bilges are as clean as the living areas of the boat. A few other mechanical improvements that I installed are dripless shaft logs by Lastdrop, propellers were reworked by prop scan, new cutlass bearings, new water and bilge pumps… In addition, the bottom paint was stripped off and I had it barrier coated with Interprotect and painted with VC-17 (which I love).
The boat was in nice condition when I purchased her, but I wanted to take the boat back to her original/correct state. I removed the former owners décor and installed new carpeting, sourced out 60’s furnishings and had them reupholstered, new drapes, new bed covers, new galley flooring, new head flooring, new galley and head faucets… In addition, I had the canvas replaced, new exterior cushions, new helm seat upholstery, new cockpit headliner, new foredeck seat cover fabricated… The exterior woodwork has been professionally stripped, stained and revarnished. Some of the exterior chrome has been replated. All the exterior gelcoat is in terrific condition.
If you are looking for an original Commander, I don’t think you will find one with this level of attention and detail. While She has Undergone Many Upgrades and Improvements, Careful Attention has been Made to Keep her "Historically Correct" and True to Original.
