Meet our Team
Jimmy Fields
Owner and President
(561) 801-5720
jimmy@tournamentyachtsales.com
Jimmy has been involved in the boating industry all his life. Growing up in Pompano Beach, FL where his father Alan was running a charter boat. Jimmy learned the fishing trade from his father at a young age. Relocating with his family to Ocean City, MD in the early 80's, Jimmy continued his love for the water, working in the summer as a mate with his father winning his first tournament, The White Marlin Open in Ocean City. Jimmy furthered his education attending Chowan College in Murfeesboro, NC for several months until the love of the fishing industry drew him back to water. Moving to Florida in the late 80's, he started his tenure as a mate out of Sailfish Marina in Palm Beach, FL. Working there for Captain Timmy Smith on the charter boat "Utopia," Jimmy learned what he calls the art of "the people business." His father once told him "it's not what you catch, but how you treat your people." Wanting to expand his knowledge, Jimmy went to work on the "Ale House" a local private boat and started traveling. The job took him to St. Thomas, Venezuela, and Mexico reaching milestones in many fishing categories. After many years of traveling, Jimmy reunited with his high school sweetheart, Jennifer, in 1996. After having their first child, Brody, Jimmy decided that staying home with his family was most important. While captaining a local private boat "Wrenegade," Jimmy decided to get into the brokerage business cutting his teeth with Hutchins Yacht Sales, a North Carolina based Brokerage. Two years after having their second child, Dawson, Jimmy was approached by long time friend Richard Benn with an idea to start Tournament Yacht Sales. After going to work for Benn, running his Spencer boat, Jimmy sold boats part time until 2006. Jimmy credits Richard for giving him his start in the business and in 2006, Benn decided to hand over the business to Jimmy. Jimmy's love for the industry, good family, and a wonderful wife is what has created his success with Tournament Yacht Sales.
Capt. Steven O'Neill
(561) 644-0133
steveno@tournamentyachtsales.com
Steve, our newest member of the team, joins Jimmy Fields and Bill Jones in the Palm Beach office. Originally from the Annapolis/Ocean City Md area, Steve has lived in Jupiter FL for the last 29 years. He graduated college in 1999 with a degree in business management and has been working on boats professionally since 1996. After running a successful Yacht survey business from 2000-2005, he made a decision to close that business so he could travel more as a boat captain. Currently Steve captains a 60' Hatteras sportfish part time and works as a sales associate for Illustrated Properties as a waterfront and Equine property specialist. His travels include the Bahamas, Panama, and up and down the east coast of the U.S. Highlights of his fishing career include winning the White Marlin Open in 1998 in Ocean City, MD, as well as meeting and developing relationships with some of the best people in the business. His Stepfather, Mickey Peppler was a premier Captain/Mate in Ocean City, MD and Southeast FL and his grandfather, Jim Roberts Sr, was a sportfish boat owner so Steve grew up around the sportfish industry. He attributes many of his traits and work ethic to them. He is a passionate outdoorsman and an avid hunter. Recently marring his girlfriend of 17 years in 2012, he has a wonderful step daughter who is set to graduate the University of South Florida next fall.
Steve Trattner

Steve has been living in Ocean City Maryland for the past 30+ years and has made his passion for the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, a much easier pursuit given the diversity of the region. He started selling boats at a local marine dealership specializing in new Grady-White, World Cat and Albemarle boats as well as used vessels. This venture proved to be very successful as Steve met many customers that he now calls friends to this day. Ten years later when the dealership was being sold, he had an opportunity to make a change. A very good friend, the late Carl Barrett, suggested to Steve that he contact his brother in law Jimmy Fields who he knew through a few mutual friends. Carl told Steve that Jimmy was starting a new Brokerage business with the legendary Richard Benn. Steve contacted Jimmy and Richard and, as they say, the rest is history. Steve has been with Tournament Yacht Sales since inception and looks forward to helping his friends, new and old, achieve their boating needs whether buying or selling a vessel.
