Tom George, CPYB, Founder and President Dunedin, Florida
Son of an Air Force Colonel, Tom was the youngest of five children. He was born in 1960 in Tokyo, Japan. He has been a local resident of the Tampa Bay Area since 1967 where his mother and father settled down after traveling the world as a military family. After graduation from Northeast High School in 1978, Tom graduated from Florida State University in 1982. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance and a Minor in Accounting. Tom funded his own college education through working and applying for grants and student loans (which he paid off in full by his own means). Through high school and college Tom worked part time in the banking industry and upon graduation began full time work in a large commercial bank in Clearwater completing their Officer Training Program.
While working full time in banking, he attended the Florida School of Banking in Gainesville, Florida, graduating in 1985. Tom rose to the top in a short time and became manager of a very successful large commercial branch of the Southeast Bank in Clearwater. He had a strong focus on commercial and construction lending.
After a successful career in commercial banking, in 1988 Tom began his career in yacht sales with MarineMax, formerly known as Gulfwind Marine, after being recruited by Bill McGill, founder and current CEO of MarineMax. Tom began selling Sea Rays and quickly caught on being not only Top Producer for MarineMax, but for Sea Ray for over ten years until his focus shifted in 1998.
Wanting to stay in yacht sales and enjoying his real passion of selling and caring for customers, he started selling the Hatteras Yachts products in 1998. Tom received the " Salesman of the Year" award in 2004 for Hatteras Yachts worldwide along with distinguished sales achievement awards every year since 1998 through 2009 from Hatteras Yachts. In addition to these, he received the prestigious "TOP GUN" award in 2006 and the most recent "Tony Pasca Memorial Award" for exhibiting the most passion and pride as a Hatteras Yacht salesman for the year 2007. Tom was a top dollar producer for MarineMax and now sells consistently more in dollars on his own than most marine dealerships nationwide. Tom's customer service rating and retention is unparalleled in the industry as evidenced by his strong sales growth and client retention.
Tom has delivered in excess of $150 million dollars of new boats/yachts in the last twenty years. He was a general partner in Gulfwind Marine and a founding member of MarineMax, Inc. when they went Public in 1998 on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol HZO.
Tom has been a member of the Florida Yacht Brokers Association (FYBA) since 1999 and has held a Florida Yacht Broker's license since 1992. He currently sits on the board and since 2006 has served as a member elected by his peers. In addition he has been a "Certified Professional Yacht Broker" (CPYB) since 2007. The CPYB program is a prestigious certification that only 10% of yacht brokers world wide have achieved. The program requires a vigorous exam and ongoing continuing education training yearly to earn enough credits to retain the CPYB status. The program focuses on code of ethics, brokerage procedures, flagging of yachts, rights of clients and buyers, and maintaining the highest standards for a yacht broker to conduct business. Tom's dedication to his career is evidenced by his continued training and time put back into the industry as a volunteer.
After twenty successful years in the yachting industry in the summer of 2009 Tom made the decision to start his own brokerage firm. Due to changes in the yachting industry, he felt he could better serve his current and future clients by starting a new brokerage firm with a strong focus on client service. He believes that success is measured in this business by how well one can serve the needs of his clients, not by catering to special interests and a corporate structure. With extensive experience in both production and custom sport fish and motor yachts he has a broad wealth of information on the yachting industry to serve his clients. Tom has built several large custom yachts from ship yards such as Christensen Yachts and Westport and has extensive experience in construction management of sport fish and motor yacht design. With such knowledge and so many years of successful sales Tom is a client's best asset in finding a brokerage yacht, build a new yacht or manage a current yacht either in a charter or ownership role. As an additional trait Tom takes pride in his crew management and training along with strong relationships with his clients Captains. Tom also has strong relationships with major shipyards, maritime attorneys and first rate surveyors he has garnered over his twenty years in the industry that enable him to better direct his clients.
Anyone that knows how Tom works will say "He is truly dedicated to protecting the customer and their interests, making them have an enjoyable and hassle free yachting experience. Tom works hand in hand with his client's Captains and crew to ensure a smooth and worry free relationship between all parties. To prove the success of Tom's methods, many clients have purchased several yachts from him. His greatest source of new business is referrals and word of mouth from these satisfied people. His creativity and knowledge of the deal helps him get deals done and he represents his clients with the highest degree of professionalism and diligence.
Tom lives on the water in cozy Dunedin, Florida. He has two wonderful children and has been married to his attractive wife,Theresa for twenty years. When not serving the needs of his clients, he enjoys boating, snow skiing, and traveling with his family and friends.
Jimmy Rogers, Broker
Jimmy Rogers was born and raised in Florida and has been boating since before he could walk. Growing up around avid boaters has given him a strong love and appreciation for the water, boats, and the boating lifestyle. From 2004 to 2008 Jimmy attended college at the University of Florida and was an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, performing such duties as the philanthropy chair. While organizing and doing charity work for his fraternity, he realized how rewarding it was to serve others and make others happy.
During the summer of 2007, Jimmy worked as an intern at the MarineMax Inc. headquarters, the largest chain of boat dealerships in the world. He performed his duties there so well that he was given the choice of working at a number of MarineMax dealerships after graduating college. It was at this point that he realized he could incorporate his love for boating and the water with his desire to serve and make others happy, after all what better thing can you offer someone than a chance to live to boating lifestyle!
So in May of 2008, after leaving the University of Florida with a bachelorís degree from the business school in Marketing, Jimmy headed down to Naples to work at the MarineMax store there in sales. Being one of the top performing stores in the nation, he was able to learn from the best in the business about the art of boat sales and forming relationships with clients. The most important thing being to ensure that your clients have the best possible boating experience and everything else will fall into place.
After working in Naples for a year, Jimmy was recruited by Tom George to become a broker in Dunedin, Fl. Now with the ability to find, buy and sell any brand of boat as a broker, he is able to better serve the specific needs of each of his clients.
