Shooting Star is a custom 50’ performance catamaran combining speed and cruising comfort with the goal that she be easily handled by a couple without the need for a professional crew.

All sailing related activities have been designed around the central helm station in the hard-top convertible cabin.  The central steering pedestal also houses engine controls, navigational displays and ship lighting.  Just forward of the helm station and still inside the cabin is a winch deck to which all sail control lines are led under deck.  A pair of electric winches allow for easy operation of sails, daggerboards, and the retracting anchor system.

Shooting Star’s
unique convertible hard top cabin provides a 360° view from the helm and she may be sailed with the windows retracted in good weather or buttoned up during inclement weather.

In order to help minimize her pitching moment, all of Shooting Star’s major systems have been centralized in the hulls.  This includes the mast, batteries and engines, fuel, water and holding tanks, tools, supplies, and anchor. Another unique weight saving feature is the elimination of the forward beam.  Instead, a bridle stayed longeron supports the forward sails.

The interior of Shooting Star has been kept light and simple.  Painted white it is bright and easy to clean.  Cherry trim and fiddles add both color and function.  Three double berths and a single are located in the corners of the boat. Each hull has a single head between the guest cabins. The port hull has a dedicated shower and a workbench.  The starboard hull contains both a spacious galley and a navigation station. There is ample ventilation throughout the boat from carefully hidden dorade boxes, as well as port lights and hatches.

Shooting Star will be sailing in the waters of Cape Cod, Massachusetts beginning in June, 2013.
