Meet the Crew!
Jim Snair Managing Broker
"It's fun...just plain fun to go boating."
Jim's parents put him in their 14' Mahone Bay Plycraft speedboat at the age of three months; he's been boating since the early 1960's.
He was a junior sailor at Lunenburg YC and spent a summer working as a deckhand on Bluenose II. Jim has raced offshore including ten Marblehead-Halifax and four Newport-Bermuda Races. In January 2009 & 2012 he did Key West Race Week.
Throughout the boating season, Jim can be found sailing with clients throughout Atlantic Canada.
In 1990 Jim founded Sunnybrook Yachts and in 1991 he purchased MacPhee Yachts. By 1995 Sunnybrook Yachts began assembling the new boat division; Sunnybrook now represents several new boat builders. Jim is also a past President of Atlantic Marine Trades Association.
His style of combining asset management and project management for clients generates considerable repeat and referral clientele who appreciate high level service. Focused on finding the right boat and protecting the long term capital investment has been an integral part of Jim's path to success in the yacht brokerage business.
When not boating, Jim can be found on a ski hill or near a soccer pitch or in hockey rink with one of his sons or with his dancer daughter.
Marcie Young Office Manager
Marcie Young is not a life-long sailor, however she our Chester connection. Marcie joined Sunnybrook Yachts in June 1998 after finishing her BBA at Mount Saint Vincent University.
Since 1998, Marcie has established herself in the brokerage business dealing with import and export brokers, government documentation and running a tight ship here in our main office. Marcie manages several million dollars of yacht transactions annually. She provides a high level of service and integrity to our clients. For imports and exports, Marcie's expertise is known across the continent.
Jim Newell Broker
Jim joins our team with years of experience in yacht repair and management throughout Atlantic Canada. Jim looks forward to working closely with our clients, bringing his love and knowledge of boats to you, our client.
The goal for Jim is to develop and grow relationships throughout the community and help Sunnybrook Yachts bring the highest level of professionalism and customer service to all boaters.

Capt. Bob Harrity Broker
Bob is a life long sailor from Saint John; has been the marine business since the 1970's and has experience in all aspects of the business.
Over the past 30 years he has helped many clients purchase and sell boats
as their family requirements changed. Let his experience help find you your next boat.
Bob has been a dealer for C&C, Hinterhoeller, Mirage, Catalina and Beneteau sailboats. He introduced Bayliner Powerboats to Atlantic Canada in 1986.
He is a Yacht Broker and Delivery Skipper with a 60 ton ticket. He has delivered boats to the Caribbean and back and along the Atlantic Coast. He has raced in numerous Regional, National and International events including 5 Marblehead-Halifax Races, 7 Yarmouth Cup Races, 2 J 35 North American Championships, Heinekin Regatta, Admirals Cup Qualifiers.
He is a past Commodore of the Royal Kennebeccasis Yacht Club, Past President of the Atlantic Marine Trades Association, Director of Regional Recreational Boating Advisory Council, and member Canadian Marine Advisory Council.
Bob brokers both power and sail, new and preowned.
Bob Snair Broker(Retired April 2003)
Bob Snair is a life-long sailor from Lunenburg, N.S.
Bob joined Sunnybrook Yachts in 1993 and retired ten years later. Bob enjoyed working with clients from all over North America.
Bob is enjoying his retirement sailing a Hunter 33 in the waters of Mahone Bay.
Ernest Hamilton Broker
Ernest Hamilton is a life-long sailor from Saint John, N.B. who has cruised extensively from Newfoundland to the Bahamas. Most of that cruising has been done in his 34' John Hannah, wooden ketch 'GLOOSCAP II'.
In 1979 Ernest started the first yacht brokerage firm in Atlantic Canada, then called McMichael Maritime. When the McMichael franchise system closed in 1986 the name was changed to Maritime Ship & Yacht Brokers.
Ernest was the first Canadian member of the Yacht Brokers Association of America. A professional association dedicated to providing a high level of service and integrity in dealings with clients.
He brokers sail, power & commercial vessels.
John Suederick Broker
John Suederick is a well travelled sailor. Originally from Nova Scotia, John worked and travelled thru Australia, Africa, Europe and the USA, spending 17 years on the west coast in British Columbia. John has been a boat owner since the late 1970's. He's club and distance raced on both coasts.
In 1996 he returned to Nova Scotia. John joined Sunnybrook Yachts in 2002 after building and selling a successful retail business. John is past Rear Commmodore at LYC.
John brokers new and pre owned sail and power yachts.
Sherman Haynes Broker
Sherman has been sailing boats from the Bay of Fundy to the Bahamas for the past 35 years. Sherman founded Souwest Marine Sales in 1988 in Digby Nova Scotia as a family owned yacht Brokerage business, dedicated to addressing the needs of the cruising sailor.
Sherman has gathered an excellent understanding of what it takes in a boat and equipment for extended cruising, be it by Sail or Power.
Having completed a wide range of boat transactions on the USA east coast he can make a US purchase hassle free from the inspection to the final documentation.
In conjunction with Selene Annapolis he has introduced the Selene line of Trawler Yachts to Eastern Canada. These ocean going trawler yachts range from 36’ to 66’.
Sherman and his wife Barbara live aboard their own Selene six months of the year, which affords his clients the opportunity to work with a broker who not only ‘’talks the talk’’ but also actually “walks the walk “.
He is Vice Commodore of RWNSYC, President of Digby Marina Developments, a director of the Digby Harbor Port Association and an active member of the Seven Seas Cruising association.
He will be happy to help you with any questions you may have. He brokers both new and pre-owned sail, cruising powerboats and commercial.
