Tim Haapanen
Tim began boating at the age of six with his grandfather who also taught him how to fish. Sailing is in the family blood as this same grandfather sailed an 82’ schooner from Finland to the U.S. Born and raised in Ventura, Tim has been around the ocean his whole life. He has sailed French Polynesia, several trips to Mexico and has done yacht deliveries throughout the Southland. Tim is an avid sailor and fisherman. In the past few years, he’s competitively raced his boat, Sisu, and done quite well. He is the current champion of the Channel Islands Harbor Wet Wednesday night series Tim also won 1st place in his class for the last two years of Milt Ingram races, which is the largest yacht race in Ventura County. In addition, Tim won 4th place in his class in his first attempt in the 2003 Newport to Ensenada race. His continued sailing accomplishments make him a well-sought-after crew for many boaters. Tim enjoys helping folks with their boating needs. All of Tim’s experience: sailing, powering and maintaining almost every kind of boat makes him a qualified representative of Sunny Coast Yachts.
