Island Packet Rendezvous
Saturday we started out the day hearing from Chuck Skewes of Ullman Sails who demonstrated how easy it can be to use an asymmetrical spinnaker with a sock. Our group sail that afternoon was quite relaxing thanks to a Santa Anna which had settled over San Diego. We perked things up in the evening with our dinner and raffle at Fiddlers Green Resturant. Bill Noonan, one of our owners, was gracious enough to share an interesting presentation he had created about their passage through the Panama Canal. Our evening ended with our ever popular raffle. We had a lot of great sponsors this year with too many prizes to count. Mac McLeod walked off with the top prize of a folding bike from Dimen Financial. Way to go Mac!
The 2005 rendezvous was a little more relaxed than usual since we decided to hold it on Catalina Island. Until now all of our rendezvous have been held in San Diego, so this was a nice change for those who have been attending our rendezvous for years and exciting for those who were able to join us for the first time.
