What People Are Saying
"Just wanted to say Thanks for helping me find a great boat for My Retirement Years! Your web site, along with the link to 'World Wide Sail Boat Search' made it so easy. I was able to compare many boats in New England and the Eastern U.S....... But what was most important, was You, being there every time, that I had the time to look at a boat on the water! And I must add that Your Spring Sailing Seminar was very informative and helpful in prepping my boat for this years launch. Many Thanks, Puffin is really a 'Dream Come True'."
I was surprised that he wanted to travel with me to South Carolina to get my first close-up look at the boat. Not only did he travel with me that time, but also for the survey. After I completed the purchase and sale agreement, he continued his extraordinary service by interviewing captains for the journey to Boston, providing a list of everything I need for the trip (including spare parts), and covering every detail for the closing and delivery of the boat.
Even a year after my purchase, Ed still continues to help research and answer my questions. In my thirty-plus years of boating, I have never met a broker that works so hard on his clients behalf. He has proven over and over again, that he is a man I can trust. I strongly recommend Ed Stott. He is the 'best in the business.'"
"I just want to say thanks for helping me with my first major boat purchase. I appreciate that you carefully listened to my thoughts, concerns and issues and were objective during a very emotional time.
I was impressed by your diligence at detail, and how you covered every step of this process so that I wouldn't make a mistake. I am thrilled with "Play-Mate" and plan to have many years of pleasure from this yacht.
You certainly are a professional, and do your job very well!"
Buying a used boat had always struck me as a complex affair -- potentially tedious, confusing and adversarial. You proved that notion wrong. At every turn you overcame legal and contractual difficulties in a calm and gentlemanly fashion. During the survey, you showed me aspects of the boat -- both positive and negative -- that made my decisions clear, informed, and pragmatic. On top of it, your presence in the cockpit on my delivery represented unparalleled service, so that not only do I look back on the buying experience as a pleasant one, but as the keystone of a positive relationship with my new boat. You are an asset to your profession, Ed. Let's keep in touch.
Best always,"
In addition, Ed was very diligent in finding me a new boat. I was looking for a very particular kind of boat and Ed never gave up. My first choice for a yacht broker would be Ed Stott."
Now, he could easily have sold me that boat then and there. But instead, he took the time to learn a bit about me, my experience, and tried to gauge exactly what I was looking for. His advice to me: “Keep looking. You’ll know your boat when you find it”. I’m sure Ed regrets that advice now! I was so impressed, that I called him a few days later and asked if he could help me find “my” boat. A four month odyssey ensued as Ed showed me boat after boat, gradually learning what my needs were while I gradually learned how to be a bit more discriminating. Finally, on a sunny October day in Rhode Island, Ed brought me to the boat of my dreams, an O’Day 322 in exemplary condition. As he had predicted, the minute I stepped on board, I knew this was “my boat”. We gamely proceeded to go look at the other two or three boats we had lined up to see that day in RI, but it was really a waste of time; I had found “her”. Ed then helped me through the complex purchase process, and made sure my interests were well protected. After the sale, he continued to follow up on a few sales contingency issues to insure everything went according to our agreement. Things went so smoothly that the previous owner and myself are now good friends. I wish some real estate brokers I have worked with were so thorough!
All I can say is, Ed Stott lives up to his motto “Where sailing dreams begin”. Thank you, Ed. You certainly did this for me. God bless."
You guided us in the positioning of the boat so that once presented to the public the response was positive. When the potential buyer from Canada expressed a need to expedite the proceeding and then we added to that deadline, you went far beyond what was expected. You organized a flurry of schedules with surveyors, buyers and sellers that would probably set a record. You even managed to find the time to attend all the surveys and sea trials. When we had to go out of town in the midst of things, you prepared things to go smoothly via fax, email and phone.
We received a long email and many photos from the new owners upon their arrival back in Canada, expressing their pleasure with the boat and the process of dealing with all of us. The whole experience was a success thanks to you." Sincerely,
Working with Ed was a pleasure during the entire process. The sale was consummated in a month. He kept close contact between the buyers, the documentation firm & me during that process. Ed's help during the day of survey was above and beyond the call for duty, in preparing the boat for the sea trial and to the haul-out for the remaining survey. His efforts were very very helpful to me. I heartily recommend Ed & SetSail Yachts as the broker of choice.,
