Berthing facilities throughout the country
Most of the boats and yachts that we offer are moored at the owner’s location. You can visit them by appointment. When you view the boat, you usually meet the owner him/herself. This method makes it crystal clear to you as the buyer ensuring your questions will be answered.
Sales harbour
If you see that the ship in question is docked at the sales harbour, you can view the boat from Monday to Saturday at the dockyard De Werf in Enkuizen in the town centre of Enkhuizen, next to de Drommedaris. We recommend that you make an appointment by telephone, especially during the off-season.
We have detailed documentation on all ships at our office.
Our opening hours are:
Mo.- Fri. 9.00 to 5.30 pm
Saturday 10.00 to 5.00 pm
The ships can be viewed by appointment.
Offers and agreements
If you are interested in the boat you have seen, you can make an offer with the broker. This concerns not only the purchase price, but also the conditions, such as technical inspection(s) and the delivery period. Resolutive conditions can include: financing, inspection of the ship, inspection of existing reports and, for example, a trial cruise. Once we have agreed on the purchase price and the conditions, a trial cruise will be made and we will include the agreements in a clear purchase agreement.
Once the financing has been arranged, you will give a bank guarantee of 10%, or you will put a down payment on our third-party account, which we are obligated to have as the Qualified Yacht Broker. Should ownership of the yacht be transferred by a Civil-law Notary, you can also deposit the down payment into your Notary's third-party account.
Then we shall go through the conditions one by one. The idea is of course for you, the buyer, to make the payments in the proper order. So the last step is usually an inspection of the underwater hull.
In the purchase agreement, agreements are made in the event that actual defects are detected. After detection of any defect(s), the purchase price will be adjusted. If the ship is declared unfit and you do not wish to purchase the ship, the down payment will be returned to you, and the purchase will be annulled. In that case, the seller then pays the slip charges. The buyer pays his/her surveyor.
As an alternative, you can start first with a total inspection and a trial cruise, and then make an offer. It can be to your advantage to know all the facts before agreeing upon a price. The disadvantage is that you, the buyer, must pay all the costs of inspection and slip charges, even if the purchase does not go through. For larger yachts, this approach is usually not very practical.
Once the inspection has been made and you accept the ship, you pay the remainder of the purchase price and ownership of the ship is transferred to you. From that moment, you must also insure the ship.
The range of ships represented by Scheepsmakelaardij Enkhuizen
The types of ships that we sell can be classified as recreational yachts, sailing houseboats and charter yachts.
Pleasure yachts
These are often smaller ships that have been restored with time and love, which are kept sailing more or less in their original state. There are also, of course, flat-bottom boats built as yachts, with a charming accommodation that is more spacious and comfortable than the “sharper” yachts. You can expect the following types of ships: lemsteraken, schouwen, tjalken, klippers, aken, hagenaars, schokkers, botters, skûtsjes, hoogaarsen, loggers, kotters and schoeners.
Sailing houseboats
We are also brokers in independently sailing ships, with or without a berth. We deal primarily with ships with a classic image. For the body, usually tjalken, klippers, aken, hagenaars, loggers, kotters, luxe motors, steilstevens or beurtscheepjes are used. We do not offer any houseboats with a concrete barge.
Charter boats
Scheepsmakelaardij Enkhuizen is an independently operating company which, as you can see from our logo, is derived from de Zeilvaart BV in Enkhuizen. Thanks to this background and other factors, we are well acquainted with the operation of both inland and seas-going charter boats. These are both sail- and motorboats for cruises lasting one or several days. In addition to brokering charter boats, we can also offer you a wide range of services in this realm. We are also at home in valuations, financing and calculating operating costs.
The types of ships you can expect are “tjalks”: klippers, aken, hagenaars, loggers, kotters, schoeners etc., but also, of course, charter boats without a skipper, such as skûtsjes, lemsteraken, schouwen, schokkers and hoogaarsen.
