44' Mason 44 Ta Shing Cutter
Incredible opportunity to own one of the most spectacular Mason 44s ever offered! Kismet truly looks like a very new vessel. When purchased in 2000, the owners completed a stem to stern refit! The spars sanded and painted, new standing rigging, new Leisurefurl in boom furling system and new sails, electric winch, and all new electronics, new generator, AC, new interior décor and new canvas. This extensive refit was just about everything you could do for a boat, and they never stopped maintaining their beautiful Mason. Each year the best woodworkers, the best mechanics, the best boatyards attended to a list of upgrades. Each year Kismet received a new present; a Bow thruster, Belkov woodworking miracles, Kato stainless work, added safety features, low friction rigging, Awlgripped topsides, interior varnish, cockpit enclosure. Every boat lover’s desire has been simply commanded. There simply are few boats like this one. So read on, and on.
You are looking at this Mason 44 because you love beautiful boats! From the drawing boards of yacht designer Al Mason, the lines are classic and timeless. Truly this is one of the prettiest sailing yachts ever built; one that rivals the art of Bill Tripp and his Bermuda 40 and Southwester 50 designs. Absolutely beautiful at anchor, with long overhangs, high bow and flowing sheer line, it is undeniable. The Mason 44 looks just like a boat should look! While she is beautiful outside, low and clean, she is also perfectly spacious inside. With 6'3" headroom throughout her well designed two-stateroom interior this is one of the best live aboard boats you will find. The gorgeous teak joinery, satin varnish, and teak and holly sole will fulfill your desire for a yacht. Kismet’s interior appointments from the window treatments to the custom bed covers are thoughtful and comfortable. There are two beautiful big staterooms, a single head with a stall shower, a real sit down navigation station, and a truly wonderful galley. This layout is perfect for a couple with accommodations for guests who will not want to leave!
While beautiful, the Mason 44 is also a serious ocean going sailboat, cutter rigged with a full keel and large powerful rudder, well protected in an aperture. She was built by PAE/Mason at the TaShing yard, considered among the very best yards in the world. This same yard builds the Nordhavn trawlers and Taswell series of sailing yachts. The hull is solid fiberglass, thick and heavily reinforced. The refined full keel holds encapsulated ballast. There are no keel bolts and huge amounts of storage and tankage. The boat is built like real boats are built will all the furniture fiberglassed in place into one monolithic structure. She is fast for her waterline, extremely sea kindly and comfortable. With her classic underbody, she has the weight of the engine low and the tankage necessary for long distance cruising.
