39' Fast Passage ,The Last One!
2000
US$ 329,000
We are proud to offer this exceptional vessel! She is one of those boats you've longed to see. Do you remember the 1983 BOC Challenge and Francis Stokes aboard "Mooneshine"? What a great boat! What a great story! Stokes, was "stoked" on the boat and had great things to say about her including these stong words. "I don't believe there is a better all around sea boat than your Fast Passage." And Beth Leonard just simply says "a tremendouly capable and sea worthy boat". The Fast Passage is proven without a doubt.
We are proud to offer the one and only Fast Passage 40. She was built from the same hull and deck molds as the Fast Passage 39. It was an awesome boat designed by William Garden based on the lines of the lovely wooden ketch "Bolero". The boat was incredibly popular in the 70s and 80s, there were about 40 built between 1976 and 1985. It was in the days of great sailing adventure! Many were sold as a kit boats and owner completed. In the late 90s a few people became obsessed with the idea of building a high quality production boat using the Fast Passage mold. Jeremiah Mitchell of Noah Corporation bought the molds for the hull and deck and hired Northern Marine to build the boat.
The Fast Passage 40! In 2000 she showed up at the Annapolis Boat show. I remember! She was just right. Everything on the boat was designed and built for purpose. She's the perfect size to be managable for a couple! Just under 40'with a 33'5" waterline. Somehow the hull just looked right with its fine bow, with a gentle tumblehome through the mid sections with pretty shear, and canoe-ish buoyant looking stern. With her substantial teak bulwalks and low rounded cabin house she is both refined and sturdy. Sort of saltly and sleek at the same time. For the cruising design of the times, she's quite racy with a long cruising fin keel with a cutaway forefoot and skeg-hung rudder.
The interior is spacious for a boat this size and everything seems to be in the right place. As you come down the companionway, you have the forward facing nav station to starboard with a quarter berth aft and a large double cabin to port. The head is just forward of the nav station to starboard which makes it perfect on a passage. The galley to port is spacious. The traditional salon is just the right with the centerline table and staight settees that work perfectly. The V berth up forward is certainly a bonus. There is so much boat in the boat!
Our very special offering, Sara Edwards, the last Fast Passage, has yet to sail the ocean. That was the dream. The reality is, she has lived all her young years day sailing on the Chesapeake Bay where she can show off her light air capabilities and kick up her heels when it blows 25! Still, she is lightly used. Down below she is as new. Scarcely slept on, if ever. Everything is perfect from the woodwork, the lighting, the galley, the head. Everything perfect.
Only one thing is not perfect. Sara Edwards needs to go sail far as she was designed to do! She's yearning for the same thing you are. Take her and go far! Call us.
