OUR CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILIES OF BOSTON

It is with great sadness, sorrow and shock that we extend our condolences to the families and the victims in the senseless bombing at the Boston Marathon. No words, thoughts or prayers; no explanation or amount of information, can make up for this tragic and senseless act of terrorism.

Boston is the birthplace of both boating and freedom in America. It’s a wonderful city with wonderful people and the Boston Marathon is truly an international event for everyone. We here at RCYS have family, friends and our boating family in Boston and the surrounding area. I say with all sincerity that their loss is indeed a loss for all of us.

Please join me in welcoming Christopher J. Monteiro to Robert Christopher Yacht Sales as one of our broker in the Newport, RI. area.

Chris comes to RCYS with an extensive mix of experience and knowledge. We all want to thank Chris for his service to his country in the United States Coast Guard. Chris has over 20 years of professional and recreational maritime experience in a variety of venues. His professional water life includes tour, ferry, dinner boats, and cruise lines. He has served as a First Officer and Fleet Safety Officer for a major cruise line. Chris also has 15 years of experience as a shoreside firefighter and EMT. One of his deepest memories and honors was his service as a Firefighter at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001; a memory that will stay with him forever. He has also served in various positions with the United States Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary. With his experience, Chris also has a background in real estate sales in the Rhode Island area. In his spare time, he enjoys being on the water in his classic Chris Craft, Diving, volunteering with a search and rescue team, the Special Olympics, and various civic organizations.

We believe that Chris is a great addition to our yacht sales team here in New England. Chris will allow his long maritime history and experience to help work with his clients around the country and around the globe. Chris hopes to use his extensive experience in boating and sales and his foundation of integrity and contemporary social media, marketing and advertising to better serve his boating clients both buyers and sellers. Chris will also be bringing the New Generation of Albin World Class Boats and Yachts to his area. Watch for announcements on Chris and the new Albins line.

UPDATE ON THE MIAMI INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW 2013.

We are happy to announce that the early information on the Miami Boat Show that is on in full swing this weekend is very encouraging. The Miami Boat Show is one of the largest boat shows in the world. And it comes at a strategic time leading right into the spring boat buying season. The Miami Show is a true International Show with buyers and enthusiast flying in from around the world.

The early news is that attendance is strong and enthusiasm is high. A number of our brokers are attending the show and the Miami Show is always a wonderful event to kick off the spring boating season. UPDATE ON EFFECTS OF THE NEW ENGLAND BLIZZARD THIS PAST WEEKEND.

We are happy to announce that Robert Christopher Yacht Sales had no down time during the blizzard that dumped up to three feet of snow on some parts of the Tri-State area and New England. Our brokers are all back up and running. This caused only minor power and internet outages. We were very fortunate on this very powerful storm. THE BRAND NEW 65' ALBIN NORTH SEA CUTTER

It's Official! Albin Yachts - Albin Yacht Sales has introduced their first exciting large yacht in the 65 foot range. New for the 2013-2014 global market.

Albin Yachts chose the 65 North Sea Cutter for its premier entry into the 65 foot and larger market. The 65 Albin North Sea Cutter had its origins in the 1980's as a Ray Hunt Hull. Albin offers this new 65 foot version, and its entire line as semi-custom yachts. This yacht specifically targets the long standing Albin family and those yachtsmen who want the combination of a rugged North Sea cruising yacht that includes the spacious amenities brought by American designers.

The new semi-custom build process starts with production sized hulls. The 65 footer is then built to order under the direct supervision of Albin using the buyers’ personal input and requests. The 65 Albin North Sea Cutter is a tri-cabin cutter style cruising yacht and is available as a 2014 model. Albin offers buyers choice of power options and drive systems. Designers recommend one of the new pod drive systems for maximum performance.

Other features are bow thrusters and a yacht controller for maximum close quarter handling, clients’ choice of state of the art technology, electronics and security systems including a geo-fence.

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND WELCOME TO THE 2013 WINTER BOATING SEASON

It's Official! We are now in to our 2013 Winter/Spring boat buying season. Some good news for boaters. The figures are just in and 2012 saw an increase of 9.8% in boat sales across the spectrum of boat sizes and types over 2011. And this was in spite of the serious after effects of Hurricane Sandy. This represents a continuation of healthy, moderate growth each year from 2009 forward. Certainly good news for all of us who love our boating lifestyle.

More good news; Interest rates continue on the low side with some rates below 4%. Money is available for those with good credit scores. And creative financing is even starting to show up again. If you want to buy a boat in 2013 call us and we will help figure a way.

OUR CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILIES OF NEWTOWN

It is with great sadness and sorrow that we extend our condolences to the families of the victims in the senseless shootings of our children in Newtown, CT. No words, thoughts or prayers; no explanation or amount of information, can make up for the tragic loss of our children and friends at Sandy Hook. But the prayers from all of us here and from all of America and the rest of the world are being sent to our neighbors and friends in Newtown and Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Newtown is a neighboring town for us here in Fairfield County Connecticut. It’s a town that is as beautiful today as it was a hundred years ago. Most all of us here in Stamford, Greenwich, Darien, Norwalk, Westport and the Shoreline areas have traveled just a few minutes into Fairfield to visit friends, dine, have coffee or enjoy the annual Newtown Parade. It’s a wonderful community with wonderful people. I say with all sincerity that their loss is indeed a loss for all of us.

HURRICANE SANDY

As most everyone knows the East Coast and much of the Northeast was severely effected by Hurricane Sandy and then less then a week later by a Nor'easter that came through in the middle of the recovery efforts. Damage was devastating and there was extraordinary loss of property and life. Many are still without power and some areas will not be restored until after the first of the year.

For those of you who were effected by these two storms our prayers and best wishes are with you during these difficult rebuilding times. If any of our friends in the boating community require any help or advice concerning their boats or yachts please feel free to call our office. We will all rebuild and lets hope this was a once in a lifetime storm occurrence.

To Our Staff and Friends; RE: Hurricane Sandy

As most everyone knows the East Coast has been covered over the last five days by Hurricane Sandy, which is also being complicated by another storm coming in from the Northwest as a cold front. As of this time the entire Northeast and Middle Atlantic States have been effected and most all have declared a State of Emergency.

Connecticut where our main office is located is in a City and State declared “State of Emergency”. All state roads are being closed until further notice and many of the US highways including Interstate 95 will be closed in the next few hours. Banks have closed along with the stock market and all public transportation has been canceled. The main part of the storm will hit sometime this evening. Storm surges are predicted to be at 6' to 11' above normal and wind gusts of close to 100 mph. It has already caused significant damage and flooding.

Our office is closed today Monday, and tomorrow Tuesday and hopefully will reopen on Wednesday. Most phone calls will be routed during this time to Donald Long. Voice mail is online and calls will be forwarded and returned as quickly as possible. To all our staff, family, friends and clients, you can be assured that No messages will be lost.

We have planned for this well in advance and taken precautions for this eventuality. Five years ago we set in motion a disaster preparedness plan to allow our domestic and International program to continue under most all disaster scenarios. Our system for sales leads is cloud based and we will have no interruption of sales leads. All our listing clients can assured that our sales program will continue on un-interrupted through this emergency.

* I would suggest any and all communication at this time be done via email and not through the phone. To be sure, our first concern is for the safety of our staff and brokers and the uninterrupted maintenance of our sales and listing program.

For our Northeast and Middle Atlantic state brokers; please follow local government instructions for travel and evacuation, stay at home until this passes and we will all be fine, hopefully within a few days. Many thanks and we will continue to keep everyone informed.

**Connecticut Show Reports Increase In Attendance**

"A week after the Newport International Boat Show drew inviting weather and solid attendance to Rhode Island, the Norwalk International Boat Show in neighboring Connecticut continued the trend. Amid clear skies and crisp early fall weather, the docks were steady after a slow start on Thursday and overall show attendance increased by 12 percent this year, according to show manager Jonathan Pritko.

“Beautiful weekend weather and new family attractions drew crowds, and we received positive reports on sales and leads from dealers throughout the show,” Pritko told Trade Only Today morning. “We also heard many attendees comment on the variety of boats and new products at the show, thanks to a terrific group of exhibitors this year.”

Tim Augustine is our newest regional Robert Christopher Yacht Broker. Tim has recently joined our team and is working full time in the Las Vegas area, Tim is able to provide RCYS's full spectrum of services including financing, survey and export services to the greater Las Vegas area including Lake Las Vegas, Lake Mead, Lake Tahoe and statewide into Nevada and California.
