Hunter caters to your lifestyle! Choose Hunter 44 Aft Cockpit which offers spacious accommodations generally seen only on much larger sailing vessels. The hull sports a unique “bow hollow” forward, creating a longer waterline for increased lift and speed. The underbody aft also has a stern reflect for a flatter exit, resulting in enhanced stability and reduced wake characteristics. This 44 is equipped with the shoal keel allowing you to cruise a wider variety of destinations. The Hunter 44 Aft Cockpit offers an extremely comfortable living space, featuring swing-out companionway doors to the interior, upholstered salon settees and a high-gloss dinette table big enough to serve the whole crew. A stainless steel refrigerator/freezer highlights the galley. A master stateroom with queen berth, forward guest cabin with V-berth and two separate heads round out this inviting interior. See this beautiful 44 Aft Cockpit today, and let it fit your lifestyle!

Always in fresh water this vessel shows like new. Her current owners are pursuing other interests after over 30 years of sailing.

Designer’s concept by Glenn Henderson:
From the beginning the 44AC & 44DS were to be large boats for their length. So the design goal was to produce a very responsive, maneuverable “forgiving” boat able to sail in various wind strengths yet easily maneuver in close quarters. So a lot of attention was given to “boat motion”, reducing the moment of gyradius, or the ability of the boat to reduce “hobby-horsing.” This is accomplished by designing the bow and stern areas with pitch dampening features such as the hollow waterlines (the concave shape of the hull at the waterline just aft of the bow) and finer bow sections (narrow angle of bow for finer entry into the water).

The result is a hull with decreased resistance producing a higher boat speed in mid-range wind conditions. The fuel and water tanks are in the bilge amidships which increases stability as the weight is below the center of gravity. The keel also has a low center of gravity due to very large horizontal wings. All this low center of gravity translates into better stability, performance and peace of mind in occasional rough conditions.
