COMMENTS: LYRA was built in 1994 by the highly regarded Lyman-Morse boatyard for a prominent offshore sailor, Robert Armstrong, from Philadelphia. He had had a 44´ S&S sailboat, built by the Lyman Morse yard previously. LYRA was built to be the ideal Downeast style cruiser for a couple, with fuel efficiency and comfort as the main priorities after “good looks” and “good lines”. Cabot Lyman, owner of Lyman-Morse, recommended the Detroit 4-71 TI for maximum hp (320) with minimal fuel burn. This has been a highly successful power plant, just as the builder predicted.
