43' J Boat 130
High-performance cruising sloop!
"The J/130 is the live-aboard, cruising version of the most exciting and innovative sailing concept of the past 60 years!"
Scooter was 1st in Class on the Swiftsure 2003 race and was an active club racer at that time. But, it's time to pass this well-loved and well-maintained performer (hull #40 of 43 built) to a new skipper.
The J/130 has received much acclaim, including high marks as a cruising vessel. J Boats has taken the best of comfortable, performance cruising design, then added a unique asymmetrical spinnaker for improved downwind performance. The America's Cup type asymmetrical spinnaker is set from a 7-foot carbon fiber retractable J-Sprit. Jibing is easy, with nobody needed on the foredeck. With one side tied down to the sprit, the spinnaker is much more stable. Whether it's blowing 5 knots or 25 knots, assisted by a cockpit-operated snuffer, two people can fly the J/130 spinnaker. And, oh does this boat fly!
The J/130 is a light displacement design born of modern materials of exceptional strength and durability. She has a very low center of gravity to achieve a high righting moment for good windward performance without crew on the rail; a long waterline length-to-beam ratio for superb directional stability and safe tracking in large offshore seas; and a generous sail area-to-wetted surface ratio for light-air performance. She was designed to be sailed by two people at racing speeds without sacrificing on-deck cruising comfort or needing shorthanded sailing systems. A proper cockpit dodger and roller furling headstay are standard.
Down below, she's a pleasant surprise for what many would consider a racing boat. The comfortable interior shows nearly-new, due to quality care and attention by her owners. The 47-hp Yanmar with a 3-bladed Max Prop is complemented by a Robinson autopilot. Her instrumentation is complete and all in excellent working order, along with an inverter and a diesel-fired Webasto hydronic heat system with four radiator/fans (8 vents). In addition, the engine manifold water (hot) supports both the heating of the domestic water supply and plumbs into the Webasto cabin heat system. A quarter-cabin aft of the starboard-side galley can be used for either storage or additional accommodations, complementing the master forward, a port-side quarter cabin and a double in the main salon.
Scooter is moored in our display area in the Everett North Basin. Call now to set a time for your private showing of this outstanding vessel.
