Welcome to Pages Creek Marine
Dear Customers and Friends,
With the continued uncertainties surrounding our economy, I wanted to be in touch with you to share what Pages Creek Marine is doing to adapt to the changes we have experienced. The decline in the economy has had a tremendous impact on the recreational boating industry, including Pages Creek. We first noticed a slowdown in boat sales in the fall of 2007, however, manufacturers continued to require large fall orders in preparation for the spring 2008 season. By the end of that year our lot was full of inventory. In 2008 we experienced strong used boat sales and strong service, but new boat sales were very slow. The whole industry was experiencing the same and the result was a tremendous inventory of aging new boats on lots around the country. Even with large manufacturer and dealer incentives the demand for new boats was just not there. This spring it became evident that the recession was still very much upon us and that there had to be a change in the way we managed our boat sales. After careful study, we made the decision to move away from speculating and stocking new boat inventory. Instead we began focusing on selling brokerage boats and new boats at other dealerships or on our manufacturers’ lots. This will more than likely mean changes to what we offer as times improve since some of our boat lines will look to either find another dealer or even begin selling factory direct. At the same time, the core of our business has always been service and storage and we remain just as committed as ever to providing the very best of these capabilities in the marketplace. Although we have had to downsize in other areas we remain fully able to handle the services you have come to expect from Pages Creek. As many of you are aware, Pages Creek Marine was founded by my father as a service business in 1972. We slowly moved into new boat sales when our customers began asking for them. This is again what we intend to do as we all move out of this recession into times that give us confidence to do more discretionary spending (such as a new boat). We now have plenty of room to display and sell your present boat, as well as the ability to assist in finding a great deal on the new or used boat to replace it. Our crew greatly appreciates the support from those of you that have stopped by or called to check with us. We are all looking forward to again hosting events such as our customer appreciation oyster roast and other excuses to get together and have fun. Thank you for your time and please feel free to be in touch with us for any of your boating needs. Sincerely, Brad Phillips President
