NW Explorations

Welcome to NW Explorations Yacht Sales.

Welcome to NW Explorations based in beautiful Bellingham, Washington with the San Juan and Gulf Islands at our doorstep. Not only are we a yacht brokerage, we are the world's only authorized Grand Banks charter fleet with 17 Grand Banks available. This offers a unique opportunity for our customers to charter one of these lovely vessels, but also allows you to do a try before you buy.

The company has been in business since 1978 and was purchased by two enthusiastic Grand Banks owners with a passion for customer service and boating. Broker Scott Blake has been selling Grand Banks (new and used) for over 20 years, has owned a number of Grand Banks over the years; 32, 36 Sedan and Europa, 38 Eastbay, and two 46 Classics. Joining them is Ken Bowles, also an enthusiastic GB owner currently on his second, a 42 Grand Banks Classic.

NW Explorations also offers three-day powerboat training courses including women-only courses. You can attend a weekend course or hire a skipper to personally train you while on your own charter boat.

Our main office is at Gate 3 in Squalicum Harbor. Ken serves the Central and South Sound market from his base in Seattle. Please come visit us if you are looking to buy, sell, or charter a Grand Banks or other quality cruiser.

An opportunity to own the flagship of the Grand Banks Heritage Series with the rare private aft stateroom layout. Trades considered. Present an offer.

Spirit Catcher is a professionally-maintained, remarkably comfortable and well-equipped example of the classically-designed Grand Banks 52 Europa. The Europa model has always been one of the more popular layouts for Pacific Northwest cruising with the well-protected side decks and the spacious covered aft cockpit—an elegant all-weather extension of the salon. Attractively-priced and equipped for extensive cruising, she is ready to cater to your wanderlust in comfort and style or serve as an ideal live-aboard vessel.

Board Spirit Catcher via either side gate or the transom gate from the swim platform. Crossing the spacious cockpit one enters the salon through the wide and stout glazed double sliding doors. The open and bright interior welcomes the owner and guests with the warmth, elegance and attention to detail for which Grand Banks has become justifiably renown. Generous windows, a GB trademark, and dramatic lighting bathe the golden teak and soft goods day or night. Spirit Catcher provides the perfect venue for entertaining—the bright open salon stretches aft from the professional forward helm station and spills into the spacious cockpit. From there, the stairway provides easy access to the generous upper deck where one can enjoy ample seating as well as the protection of a custom full canvas enclosure for year-round use. As the day winds down three staterooms and two heads welcome owner and guests for a good night’s rest, the Master being served by a private stairway.

The crew is well-cared for with an extensive offering of included equipment. Conveniences such as an entertainment system, central vacuum system, HVAC system, full-size washer and dryer units, residential cooktop/convection oven and on-deck BBQ are augmented underway with bow thruster, stabilizers, trim tabs, engine synchronizers, dual gensets, watermaker and a complete suite of helm electronics.

From the fully-equipped galley and helm stations to the comfortable salon, spacious staterooms, and extensive engineering features, both owners and guests aboard Spirit Catcher will feel catered to at the highest yachting standards.

“There are seven days in a week, ‘someday’ is not one of them. So don’t put it off.”
