Welcome to Northrop and Johnson Inc.

Northrop and Johnson has been a part of the Newport yachting scene since 1966. No other yacht brokerage can claim such consistency or tradition. As the area has grown and embraced the sport of yachting, so has the Newport office. We are fortunate to have assembled a crew with a depth of experience that sets us apart from most other yacht brokerage firms. Six of our seven brokers have earned the CPYB distinction. Even the resumes of some of our office staff reflect an extent of yachting experience beyond that of many of today’s yacht brokers.

We are prepared to handle the intricacies of a transaction in any corner of the globe, in any currency, with an understanding of the relevant regulations to that yacht and to the new owner’s needs. When we contact the greater yacht brokerage community worldwide to promote one of our listings or to inquire the details of a particular yacht, the name Northrop and Johnson is accorded an immediate respect. This earns results for our clients.

Northrop and Johnson maintains a presence at every major boat show in the world. With additional offices in Fort Lauderdale, France and California we offer strategic advantages to our clients, whether they are buying or selling.

After fifty celebrated years in business, we look forward to the next fifty.

GRAND CRU is a very capable little ship with the build quality and functionality of a vessel obviously meant to cross oceans as safely and comfortably as crossing the bay.  Her engines are Caterpillar work engines, not typical yacht engines. Her generators are also commercial and run at a quiet and long life 1200 RPM, not 1800 RPM as most new “throwaway” units due now. Everywhere you look, from the wide full walk around decks, powerful windlass and massive stainless fittings and you can easily see the quality built into and around the entire vessel.

The master stateroom (accessed via a private companionway) with centerline queen is as large as one could hope to find in a 28m yacht, and luxurious too!  The ensuite bath is also large, with Jacuzzi tub, dual sinks and shower large enough for two.  Being aft, totally private and in the most comfortable part of the yacht, it sits atop prop shafts that are sealed in oil for an incredibly quiet and smooth ride. Her current owners have slept in the master stateroom many times while running with no issues.  The forward staterooms accessed via a companionway next to the helm are comprised of a Queen VIP forward, Twin cabin to port with Pullman berth, and a twin with Pullman to Starboard (currently used as crew accommodation).  All cabins are en-suite.

This is also one of the few vessels of this size that can be “Dead Ship” for long periods of time at anchor. She features a massive battery room with 9 new batteries which enable, thanks to a large inverter systems and SubZero refrigeration/freezer units, the ability to shut down the generators and open the windows, hatches, doors, and ports for ventilation.  The salon and pilothouse areas also have opening windows and screen doors.
