Nord West build motorboats from 37 to 56 feet in length, eg 11-17 meters. The yard is situated on the island of ORUST, which has a strong boat building tradition for building quality seaworthy craft.
Nord West creates motorboats with a unique spirit, marrying modern design efficiency with classic good looks.
Nord West is a family-owned business, which consists of a boatyard and manufacturing facility at Vindön/Orust and a further modern new facility in Lysekil producing all of the company’s mouldings.
In 2000, Nord West launched a new concept design, the Nord West 390, designed and constructed in-house by Benny Martinsson, the owner and Managing Director. The 390 had the benefit of a low drag resistant hull with an appearance incorporating sweeping contours.
This new model attracted enormous interest and was voted Boat of the Show in Stockholm when it was unveiled, and awarded "Motorboat of the Show 2000".
After only five years, 169 boats of the design Nord West 390 have been built, and it is clear that the boat has become an enormously successful concept. The Nord West 390 continues to sell successfully and has become well respected throughout many countries.
The next new model to be launched, the Nord West 420, went one step further, winning the coveted award "UK Motor Boat of the Year 2007". Furthermore, the 420 won this award for an unprecedented second year running in 2008, placing Nord West in the unique position of being the only manufacturer to win this accolade twice for the same model.
At the 2009 awards ceremony, both the Nord West 370 and the Nord West 420 were nominated in the same category among with four other contenders in the "Motor Boat of the Year 2009".
The new model Nord West 370 Sport won the Boat Innovation Award during the Scandinavian Boat Show with the justification: "The Nord West 370 Sport brings to life an ambition to produce the perfect boat, thanks to its wide array of innovative design solutions.”
