>1988 J 35 The J/35 was built to attract buyers to the offshore racer-cruiser categories. One-design racing activity has been strong since the J/35 debuted. The boat's greatest impact however, has been in handicap racing. It has taken honors in major offshore races around the world, including the single-handed transatlantic race. It is the most popular racer-cruiser rated by the IMS. In spite of a challenging PHRF rating the J/35 remains a perennial winner in club racing. the Columbia 30 Sport Yacht has proven itself to be a capable distance racer. Owners have
excelled in offshore and coastal races, some in excess of 300 nautical miles. The boats have
demonstrated theirstrength, durability andperformance in wild ocean conditions and true wind
speeds of 40 knots. The Columbia 30Sport Yacht is a true pocket ocean racer. While many of
our owners enjoy offshore distance racing, we understand that this type of sailing and racing is
not for everyone. Most sailing is done one afternoon at a time. And, most day sailors, buoy
racers or even weekend cruisers just don't require and prefer not to have onboard most of the equipment required for offshore racing. There should be a Columbia that meets thesesailors needs. The new Columbia 30 Sprint is configured for day sailing and buoy racing.
