The Full Specifications

Welcome to Murray Yacht Sales,
serving the Gulf Coast's yachting community since 1974.

In 2014 Murray Yacht Sales, Inc. celebrated forty years of service to the yachting community, started when Tim Murray purchased Walet Yacht Sales in New Orleans, LA in September of 1974.

With customer service as its focus, Stanton Murray has followed in his father’s wake. The growth of marinas in the 1980s created new opportunities for office locations in the region. Murray Yacht Sales has (2) office locations: New Orleans, LA, and St. Petersburg, FL.

The insight gained from over 40 years of market involvement has led Murray Yacht Sales to represent the new lines of Beneteau and J/Boats. Murray Yacht Sales is also a full service yacht brokerage firm selling both sail and powerboats. The New Orleans office offers Sailing Lessons through the ASA and Day Charters.

The Murray Yacht Sales team is looking forward to the next thirty years of service to the yachting community.

Mainship 34 Pilot/Sedan History

The 34 Pilot was first introduced by Mainship in 1999 as a soft top, single engine boat with contemporary down-east styling. In 2001, a hardtop or sedan model was released. Not long after, a twin engine option was introduced for both models with a redesigned running surface taking her from a semi-displace to a full-planing hull design. Mainship continued to produce both the Pilot and Pilot Sedan models until 2010 with only minor revisions to the interior options and a revised hardtop for the sedan.

Hull Design

The running surface (the underwater portion of the hull) was completely redesigned for the twin engine 34 Pilot. The original semi-displacement hull was not suitable for the 20 knot plus speeds that the twin engine boat is capable of. The new modified-V design features a stubby and wide keel which ends about the area of the shaft logs; this keel provides for additional directional stability. The chines were modified for more lift and to reduce spray. Running strakes were added in the bow, again to increase lift and reduce spray. The end result is a wonderful running boat that is efficient, easy to operate and very dry.
