Maximus American Marine was established in 2005 Owner Bill Demchak was looking for a way to build a mid forty foot custom sportfisherman of Palm Beach quality and construction. The only problem was that most custom sportfish builders have abandoned the construction of smaller vessels focusing on boats over 60 feet in length with a larger profit margins. However, the profit margin was not the driving factor for Bill. His love for fishing and the history of the sportfishing industry is what motivated him to build custom sportfish boats. The 47’ Maximus fills the void in the custom sportfish industry that the rest of the builders abandoned. Interested in the whole designing and building process, he set out to look for a high quality builder who shared the same passion as he does. He found builders Tom Schaefer and Chet Darenberg, both very experienced in the marine industry, who were just finishing construction on a 41 ft custom cold-molded dayboat and were looking for their next project. Tom has built a variety of high quality custom sportfish vessels, while Chet worked on many boats, in new construction as well as in the repair industry. They decided to set up shop near Bill’s residence in Hampton Bays, so that he could follow the whole process up close. For the last piece of the puzzle, they hired naval architect Erwin Gerards to further perfect the design and engineering. Erwin worked for Rybovich for many years as their Naval Architect. He worked closely with head builder Gary Hilliard who built over 30 custom Rybovich yachts. Erwin now has his own design office, EG Designs, and still works with Rybovich, now run by Mike Rybovich.

The 47 Maximus is based on very traditional styling. She has a “classic” day boat design with an open aft bulkhead, but with a modern fast hull. Unlike her predecessors she has no raised engine boxes and can easily be built as an enclosed salon. With her timeless styling, clean lines, proven cold molded construction and attention to fishability she is truly rich in sport fishing heritage

The 47 Maximus is estimated to cruise at 30 knots. With 700 gallons of fuel, the estimated range at this speed is 450 nautical miles. The engine room access is through a large hatch at the aft end of the salon. Equipment includes twin Cummins QSM11 diesel engines, with a 705 BHP output each, an 11 kW Onan generator with sound shield, an Eskimo Ice machine, Headhunter Mach 5 water pump, Cruise-Air air conditioning compressors, 12 gallon water heater, 50 gallon holding tank and a 100 gallon stainless freshwater tank replenished by a Sea Recovery Aqua Mini 350 Water maker.

The interior has high quality finishes, with beautiful teak veneer in the forward cabin. There is a master stateroom forward with a queen size berth. There’s plenty of storage space with rod storage alongside the hull in upper cabinets, two large hanging lockers with endtables and drawers underneath the berth. The guest stateroom is to starboard and has an upper and lower berth with drawers underneath, a large hanging locker and an endtable with drawers. On the port side is a large head with large upper cabinets and mirrored doors. The shower has a curved door on a sliding track, to increase the shower size even more.

The salon is designed for serious fishing, with plenty of rod and gear storage under a bunk area to port. There’s a dinette to starboard with seating for four. The galley has a Subzero refrigerator with drawers, two-burner stove, a large sink and drawers and storage below a granite countertop. In the forward bulkhead cabinets there is a microwave and a 20” LCD TV with entertainment center.

The large cockpit (124 sqft) has plenty of storage. Gaff lockers are located port and starboard, tackle drawers and a bait well are in the port cabinets, while the starboard cabinets house a large front loading freezer, a top loading drinkbox, and a compartment for cockpit controls with a Furuno Navnet mounted under the lid. The large fishbox is accessible from either side of the fighting chair and has removable pen boards for ice and fish management. The fishbox is well insulated and supported by a 600 lb./day ice maker in order to properly take care of the catch.

The bridge has a large console with two lift lids, housing three Navnet screens and all other electronics. The Rybovich style steering wheel and single lever controls are mounted on a custom-built teak helm station. There is a long seat to the port side with storage underneath and a smaller seat forward of the console on the starboard side. Future Construction

As stated earlier, the design on the 47 Maximus lends its self well to an enclosed salon version as well. We are looking to establish ourselves based on the success of the 47 and expect to produce more boats of this size class to fill a void in the industry. Since Maximus American Marine is a custom boat builder, we are also able to accommodate a custom designed sportfish boat of almost any dimensions. We have the design and construction capabilities to match your imagination.

THE OUT ISLAND 38 EXPRESS FISHERMAN

This Sportfish is simply in a class by itself. From the Carolina flare to classic tumblehome and rounded transom, her lines scream custom. In an age where most boats appear cookie cutter similar, the "OUT ISLAND" is sure to turn heads.

Best yet, her beauty is not just skin deep. Inside you will be welcomed by a warm, hand finished maple interior. Fine appointments such as Corian tops, a cedar lined hanging locker, designer fabrics, and other amenities to numerous to list here, also await you. Every door, drawer and molding is handcrafted at our facilities by a team of skilled artisans who on average, have over a quarter century of experience each in plying their trade.

Beneath the hydraulically lifted helm deck, a well thought out engine room is ready for your inspection. Most equipment is located on the forward bulkhead to provide easy access and for ease of clean up, all fiberglass surfaces have been sanded smooth, gel coated, and then painted with Awl-Grip. As for sound deadening , Soundown foam insulation covered withSoundown perforated, powder coated, acoustical aluminum panels makes for a clean and durable installation.

Step behind the Center Control Station, and you will immediately recognize the OUT ISLAND is no ordinary express fisherman. All gauges and switches at the helm are within easy sight and reach with ample space provided in the console to accommodate electronics. The Solid Chrome over Brass Control Levers and Steering Wheel by Release Marine are standard equipment and thanks to the Seastar hydraulic steering and single lever Panish control system, everything works smooth as silk. Visibility could not be better either. Before you, a clear view is provided of what lies ahead and behind, an unobstructed view of one of the best-equipped and most generous Fishing Areas in any 38 foot boat

Once fired up, this Beauty becomes a Beast. As you ease the throttles forward, acceleration is impressive to say the least. In an instant you are up on plane and leaving those less fortunate in your wake. Depending upon the twin diesel power package selected, the OUT ISLAND 38EXPRESS tops out between 35 and 40 knots. Thanks to our hull design and the Carolina flare, words like SOFT and DRY can accurately be used to describe our ride, unlike our competition. After all, what good is speed if you cant use it? And with over 500 gallons of fuel capacity, theres not much chance of any of those turtles out-distancing this hare.

Liberty Yachts New For 2007

Liberty Yachts builds custom sportsfishermen that are known for their soft riding bottoms and first class craftsmanship and finish. The new 45 Flybridge is the flagship Liberty as she embodies all the characteristics of a Liberty: a deep –vee hull that is soft, incredibly dry yet even with her 21 deg transom deadrise, she is a very stable fishing platform; a level of fit and finish that is second to none; and performance that is leading in her class. Generous flare and spray strakes keep the ride unbelievably dry and her beam and chines aft lend to a stable drifting and trolling platform. The design of the 45 Flybridge is unique. It takes a page from the proven and loved designs of the old 31 Bertrams or 32 Blackfins; a flybridge boat with engine boxes, where the engines are aft of the living spaces, not under them. The cabin is therefore lower in the boat which drives the whole center of gravity of the boat lower and enables the bottom to carry her deep vee all the way to the transom and still exhibit stunning stability and a comfortable motion. The engine boxes work like a mezzanine space of much larger boats and add very usable space to the cockpit for both lounging and fishing. With the cabin low in the boat there are only three steps from the engine box to the flybridge, making the 45 Flybridge a pleasure to shorthand and a more fun for the helmsman who doesn’t feel “stuck” up on the bridge. Normal conversation can be had from the bridge to the cockpit and when the action in the cockpit heats up, crew from the bridge are there in a flash. She is truly a hybrid of the best attributes of a classic flybridge and express styles.

At first look one can tell the Liberty 45 is an incredibly well designed boat. Liberty utilizes every square inch of the boat but does not cram too much into their boats, allowing for a very simple yet functional attribute. Once inside you will notice the extravagant interior and more than enough living space. On the port side you will notice the large galley with only but the top-of-line appliances and beautiful teak woodwork. Off to the starboard side there sits a dinette settee and full size head and shower conveniently located near the entrance door. All the way forward is the stateroom with a queen size berth with miles of storage underneath and two hanging closets.

The performance of the 45 Flybridge is stunning for her size. With twin 900hp MANs she tops out at39 knots and cruises an incredible 34 knots at 2000 rpm, which is 300 rpm under the rated engine speed. She is cruising 30 knots at 1750 rpm, 550 rpm under the top; only burning 45 gallons per hour.
