Charlie King, an Indiana native, moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1955, and graduated from the University of Florida. Charlie joined the sales force at Merritt Yacht Brokers in 1995. As captain of the swimming team, Charlie naturally gravitated towards watersports and boating, in general. He has owned boats ranging in size from a canoe to a 72’ Belizean built ketch that he chartered throughout the Bahamas for years. Charlie became a yacht broker 17 years ago, because, as stated, "I like boats, and I like people who like boats, so selling them is a natural for me." Charlie's credentials include a 100-ton USCG license, in addition to having his pilot's license. While knowledgable in a wide range of power and sailing vessels, Charlie’s specialty is long-range bluewater vessels "for the adventurer."
