Meet Our Brokers
Betty Dovel comes to yacht brokerage after two graduate degrees and a 35-year career in public education. Working with nontraditional students, she first served as a high school teacher, then a counselor, and finally an administrator. She gravitated toward the tidal lowlands and to the boats which moved on its waters. After working three years to restore a traditional sloop, she lived aboard for nearly a decade, spending winters in Washington, D.C. and summers on the Chesapeake Bay. One repair venture brought her in contact with Clinton Midgett, who became her business partner and husband. After youthful years of surfing around the world and playing piano professionally, Clinton Midgett brings 35 years of boating experience to yacht brokerage. He has extensive sailing experience from Newfoundland to the Caribbean. He has worked in boat repair, restoration, and new yacht construction in Maine and Virginia. Since 1998, Clinton and his wife, Betty Dovel, have operated Boats, Etc., Inc., and constructed, serviced, and completed major refits of significant and unique sailing and power yachts. Both Clinton and Betty offer specialized expertise in classic and traditional vessels. Please contact Clinton at (757) 871-7565 and Betty at (804) 832-9178 to discuss how they can help with your next purchase or sale!
Ted Williams, a resident of Gloucester, Virginia, graduated from MIT with a degree in Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering in 1967. He began designing and building boats in high school, raced sailboats in college and spent 35 years designing, setting performance requirements, testing and surveying ships and watercraft for the U.S. Navy. He is still designing and building pleasure craft as a hobby. Ted’s interest in boats of all kinds, but in particular, sailing craft, has led him to the yacht brokerage business. Please contact Ted at (703) 408-3792 to discuss how he can help with your next purchase or sale!
