The True North 34 Honored for Innovation at 2008 Miami Boat Show. The True North 34 from Pearson Yachts/True North Yachts was the winner in the Inboard & Outboard Cruisers category. The 34-foot True North combines an innovative hideaway tailgate/transom and moveable cockpit seating for a truly unique design. “This is a versatile cockpit that offers great livability and fishability,” says judge Rudow.
Following the success of the True North 38, the TN 34 transom opens for easy access to the swim platform. Your family can enjoy swimming as well as easy boarding into the dinghy. An Optimist dinghy or a small inflatable can be pulled up out of the water.
With the transom closed, there is still plenty of space on the swim platform. To open the transom takes about a minute and is easier demonstrated than explained.
The V-berth is large and light, with the enclosed head to port, and drawers plus a hanging locker to starboard.
There is excellent visibility forward from the helm, while key instruments are always in view. One of the design advantages is minimal bow rise at all speeds. Note the custom helmsman chair.
The galley up layout, with dinette to port and galley opposite, is popular for cruising because no one is confined below decks without a view. Grand Banks has featured the galley up layout for years because of the view of surroundings while in beautiful anchorages.
The companionway door and hatch slide to port into pockets, saving valuable space.
The galley to starboard includes a refrigerator, alchohol stove and sink with hot and cold water. Conveniently located opposite the dinette, with easy access to the cockpit.
Engine access is below the aft portion of the dinette. A push of a button at the helm station hydraulically opens the seating area to give complete access to the engine compartment. It doesn't get much easier than this.
Enclosed head with shower and holding tank makes the system legal in our waters.
The foredeck is comfortable for sitting, with an anchor and windlass operated from the helm. Stainless handrails eliminate exterior varnish.
The cabin top features ventilation hatches port and starboard, as well as an optional opening skylight. The center windshield section also opens for additional air flow. Note the stainless handrails conveniently located for moving fore and aft.
Study the layout and you will see why the True North 34 offers many cruising comforts, including the galley up layout so popular in her larger sister, the True North 38. Cruising speeds of just over 20 knots, depending upon the cruising gear you carry, will get you to your favorite harbors or just out on the water for a day cruise in style and comfort. A great sea boat if the weather turns foul and the perfect boat for beautiful days when the seas are calm and the sun is shining.
