NOTICE OF RACE
McCotters Marina is proud to sponsor the Pamlico Sailing Club’s Ocracoke Regatta, the longest running big boat event on the east coast because it's the most FUN! You don't have to be an accomplished sailboat racer to participate – you don't even have to be a blow-boater! The Ocracoke Regatta is open to any and all who want to spend a fun day out on the water, then get together to enjoy each other's company and share a little grub & grog in Ocracoke.
RULES
The Regatta will be governed by the 720 Rule, 2005-2008 US Sailing Rules and PHRF Rules. Further sailing instructions may be given by the Race Committee Boat the morning of the race. Monitor VHF channels 16/68.

Aarrr! Beware!
Join us on August 23, 2008 for the MARAUDERS of McCOTTERS REGATTA, if ye dare!
Join McCotters Marina for another day of family fun, pig & chicken pickin’, laughter and more laughter. This is not a serious regatta, but is a hilarious sailboat race that encompasses any type of vessel with any type of sail. If you have a powerboat, simply rig a makeshift mast and sail. Creativity is not only encouraged, it’s a necessity!
Each boat is assigned a handicap designed with fun and safety in mind. For example, crew members may be required to write and perform an original limerick, or the Captain may have to wear a tutu and serve crew members a beverage. Captain and crew members must be dressed as pirates.
A group of Judges will determine the winner, so the position in which a boat crosses the finish line has nothing to do with actually winning the race. Judges may be openly bribed, but the cost or nature of the bribe is not as important as originality. (NO monetary bribes are accepted.) Participants are judged on the spirit of the crew members. The more fun the crew members are having, the better chance they have of winning.
After lunch, a "blindfold dinghy" race is held. Each dinghy will have two crew members, and as implied, one will row the boat blindfolded while the other gives directions. This race is guaranteed to be a side-splitter!
Registration is free. T-Shirts will be on sale at the event. Participants are encouraged to bring a dish or snack to share.
To register or for more information, e-mail or
call Arden at 252-975-2174.
