Dave Rearick
Dave Rearick has been sailing and racing the Great Lakes and Coastal areas since his childhood. He has won many events and held records including the single handed Mackinac race from Chicago to Mackinac Island as well as the Solo Super Mac- singlehanded race from Pt. Huron to Chicago (600 miles!).

Dave began sailing at age 12 on the family Sunfish from the shores of Lake Michigan. He grew up racing Hobie Cats, Lasers and the Sunfish until relocating to Maine at age 20 and taking a job with the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School in Rockland.

Sailing in Maine found Dave on more traditional craft from open pulling boats to large schooners and lots of variations in between. Since returning to Indiana in 1980, Dave has sailed and raced many boats, from J 24’s to Open 50’s on the Great Lakes and both coasts.

For the past 10 years, Dave has most often been seen on his own boat, the well known Geronimo. On Geronimo, along with all the various crewed races, Dave was able to pursue his passion for Single-handed-sailing and has competed in many races including 7 single-handed Chicago-Mac races and 2 Single-handed Super-Mac races held between Chicago and Port Huron, MI.

He is a lifetime member of both the Lake Michigan Single-handed Society and the Great Lakes Single-handed Society. Along with his many placing in various races, the most meaningful award presented to him came in 2004 when fellow members of the Great Lakes Single-handed Society awarded him the Mike “Laughing Gull” Silverthorne Award for the “sailor most exemplifying the spirit of single-handed sailing.” Likely the highest achievement a sailor can receive is the respect of his fellow competitors.

In 2002, Dave helped fellow single-handed competitor Tim Kent, to prepare his boat “Everest Horizontal” to compete in the Around Alone Race- A race pitting the best international sailors in a 27,000 mile race around the world, Single-handed. Dave plans to compete himself in the next international single-handed race around the world.
Racing accomplishments: 20some Chicago Mac Races 30some Tri-State Races 30some Columbia Races, 7 Solo Chicago Mac Races--set record in 1998, 2 Solo Chicago-Port Huron Races-set record in 1999, 4 LMSS solo Trans-Michigan Races, Many other races and sails

Jeff Logan
"There are many points on the compass rose. I had to locate the few that were meant for me and head for those that summoned me with excitement, for they were the ones that gave meaning to my life. Sailing is the pole for my life. I have sailed for 20+ years now and have been a Merchant Marine Captain for 15 of those years. I grew up sailing on Lake Michigan aboard various sloops from 25’ to 46’. A family owned sailboat charter company gave me the opportunity to sail and now I have passed that knowledge of sailing onto hundreds of students from our sailing courses over the years. To this day I still receive e-mail from former students on their journeys from the islands or sailing in desolate oceans and other individuals who are now boat owners. It gives me a sense of success to think that if these students had not stepped aboard a boat before they met me and I take pride to see what they are doing now." A Liberty Ship Captain once told me there are just three main goals in boating, “keep your butt in the boat, the boat in the water and the water out of the boat." This simple approach certainly makes sense. "The newly formed relationship between myself and the Mariner Network is going add depth to the Mariner’s success. We look forward to a long lasting relationship."

Spring/2008- Jeff has recently relocated to the Keemah, Texas area on the Gulf of Mexico and will continue his brokerage endeavors there with us.
