NEW CONSTRUCTION COSTS
Include shipping from our Thailand yard to the Port of Los Angeles/Long Beach California. Yacht commissioning is normally done in
the Long Beach CA.
Delivery in this area is recommended due to our ability to control quality and the final delivery of the yacht. Buyers will be able
to take possession of the yacht either in California, or it can be delivered via buyer, paid crew, or by truck. If delivery is
taken by truck, this would involve additional costs such as trucking, sail system removal and loading to truck, along with packing
and storage of various items that would be necessarily removed to be able to transport the yacht to the final destination. This is
dictated by height requirements of the yacht.
In cases where the buyer wishes to take over the commissioning phase, we can deduct the cost of commissioning, launching,
demonstration and various other items, and ship the yacht directly to the buyer’s point of delivery. This would require the buyer
to oversee the majority of commissioning, acquired yard where the yacht can be completed. Some changes in the warranty structure
would be needed. Such items would be transferred to the yard or contractor doing the commissioning work. An agreed upon price can
be negotiated in such events.
COMMISSIONING DEFINED:
Upon arrival of the yacht at the Long Beach California area, via container ship from Thailand, the yacht is removed from the ship
and trucked to a pre-determined launch area. Prior to launching, the yacht is assembled and any additional through-hull fittings,
or optional items that need to be installed prior to launch are completed. The bottom is additionally primed, and two coats of
proper quality bottom paint will be applied to the underbody of the yacht. The propeller is installed along with protective zinc
anodes.
The hull is polished and waxed. Batteries are installed, electrical systems are tested, lifelines and stanchions are installed, and
on the traditional models, the bowsprit and stern platform are installed. After launch the yacht is inspected for leaks from any
hull penetration areas, and the engine is started and tested for function.
The engine warranty startup will be done prior to sea-trials by the Yanmar dealer in the area. Any recommendations of problem areas
will be remedied at this time, and at no cost to the buyer.
All sail systems such as winches, spar and boom, standing and running rigging, traveler and line controls, sails, and all other
systems such as optional equipment like roller furling, boom vangs, and other options will have been pre-ordered to coordinate
with the arrival of the yacht. items such as refrigeration systems, air-conditioning, generators, water makers, electronics.
Any options
That are agreed upon will be ordered well ahead of the arrival time. Such options will not be paid for until the actual time that
they are ordered and the invoice confirmation of the order is sent to the buyer. If certain options are ordered for yard
installation, then the cost will be due at the time the yard orders such equipment. Normally, options are to be installed at the
commissioning area by independent contractors who we are familiar with, and have done work the specific type of installations in
the past. Buyer in-put is important at this phase to assure that placement of equipment is what was expected.
OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT:
This list is offered as estimated cost of items that are either yard installed, or after-market items that are installed upon
arrival to the commissioning area. If the buyer choice is to install such equipment, then we will pass on any vendor discounts, at
our cost to the buyer who will take full responsibility of warranty claims. It will be understood between the builder and his
representatives, and the buyer, that custom options may require special design drawings, and that final prices cannot be fixed
until the time of order.

Electronics systems:
All electronic systems are configured to the buyers desires and expressed needs. This is why we do not quote exact amounts
until the buyer has made the decision of what type and make of the chosen electronics and the unit has been ordered. The
following items should be given consideration when planning a yacht for the specific use of the buyer.
|
RADAR
: The major companies that we have used are Raymarine And Furuno. Both offer high state of the art units with
split screen function that offer both Radar, GPS color chart maps, and depth. This equipment is best studied on
the net at
www.raymarine.com
and
www.furuno.com
where technical information can be obtained. General costs can be found at
www.phantommarine.com
. Decision such as mounting location
of antenna and receiver, along with cable runs, all should be
considered prior to order and installation of equipment.
The use of Radar has become a near must with cruisers. It is not only a collision avoidance system, but it is a
tool for finding mountain tops for coastal and long range navigation. Also the ability to locate the moisture
centers in an approaching squall can save a cruiser many hours of clean-up if the squall were not noticed
beforehand. We highly recommend a good chart plotter and radar of at least 24 mile range, mounted as high as
possible
Many clients are opting for the master and slave repeaters so that visibility is good from the cockpit or the
navigation center.
|
|
AUTOPILOT:
Without doubt the most useful electronic addition to your yacht is the autopilot. The unit must be the right
one for your specific yacht and not under-sized.
Controls should be near the helm. Remote control units are offered with all good systems so that the yacht can
have control of the pilot from several locations.
There are several good autopilot manufacturers who we recommend. Check the following web sites for more
information
www.simradyachtingUSA.com
,
This will give information on the Simrad pilots. For Raymarine, which has evolved from the Autohelm/Raytheon
pilot, check
www.raymaine.com
, also
www.autonav.com
for the Autonav systems, and
www.si-tex.com
For the Sitex pilots. This should give you a good idea of the right pilot for your boat.
|
|
Single side band radios and ham radios
should be chosen if long range cruising is intended. For the SSB units, a insulated backstay will be required
along with an automatic antenna tuner. We suggest strong consideration of the Icom Company products. There web
site is
www.icomamerica.com
.
|
|
There are several VHF marine radios on the market that are worthy of good cruising yacht. Some have many
various functions such as remote waterproof mikes that are both microphone and speakers, and have the ability
to change channels from a remote location, also there are hailers that can be helpful and other functions that
will enhance the use of the VHF. Here are some web sites to check;
www.icomamerica.com
.
and
www.standardhorizon.com
, Also www.uniden.com , Uniden offers some excellent products.
|
|
Depth sounders
run a wide spectrum of various instruments. The range includes items such as fish finders, to simple sonar
units. It is hard to beat the recognized manufacturers in this field, but specific need will sometimes dictate
the direction to take. We do recommend, if you have chosen a Raymarine pilot and radar system to look hard at
the Sea Talk system that offers depth, wind speed, wind point, and various other instruments such as
multifunctional repeaters which can all be interfaced.
|
|
Television
is a matter of choice in most cruising yachts. Some cruisers will have a small TV that is for playing CD’s that
can be found around the world (tracVision). Some others want far more complicated systems that track
satellite’s. The leader in this field over the years is the KVA Company,
www.kvh.com/pm
,,they also
Offer track phone satellite systems (tracPhone). The latter system allows internet reception along with
telephone.
|
OTHER EQUIPMENT ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION, WEB SITES HAVE BEEN ADDED TO CERTAIN ITEMS FOR INFORMATION.
WARRANTY:
All Hans Christians are covered by a 5 year warranty for Osmotic blistering of hull and structure. There is a one year limited
warranty on any items that are not purchased in the United States. Any item that is manufactured for use on the yachts will be
responsible for their warranty on each individual item. Warranty claims must be inspected by Hans Christian representatives, or
substantiated by photographic evidence and written report from a vendor, contractor, shipyard or any other party who has
sufficient knowledge of the marine industry. All repairs will be to the standards of the marine industry, and custom or
individual work that does not relate to the claim, will
be not covered.
Full understanding of the warranty will be necessary prior to any order being taken by the yard. Such warranty may have
specific additions or deletions based on the structure of the sale, along with the location where delivery is taken.
EXPERIENCE A SAIL ON A HANS CHRISTIAN
:
We highly recommend the following yachts that are for charter on the West and East coast. Please check the following website.
www.sailbravura.com
We also have a owner that will charter.
